Exactly that.

People who want to achieve and praise others for doing so.

that is a real struggle to do in the UK

Thanks but I am an expat not an immigrant.

We have watched the UK take over half of our earnings away over the years and haven’t witnessed much good from what they have reinvested that into, not much that we have personally benefitted from hence the criticism as to where that has been spent and how that has affected the UK.

so yes we have taken an opportunity elsewhere to better ourselves and our lives, who wouldn’t?

OP, your generic and short replies, not engaging with the details and coming out with stereotypes, are so strange.

If you wanted to achieve, why would you go somewhere with a struggling and contracting economy?

Don't you have to work in the summer?

I don’t work

“Who wouldn’t take the chance for a better life overseas?”

You don’t seem to like the people coming to the UK to do that very thing? What’s the difference? Before you start on people coming to the UK are taking benefits, the vast majority are a net positive to the economy. And it’s not as if you are paying into Dubai…

sexnotgenders · 20/10/2026 10:58

Please stay there

Yes, it's honestly like reading the FAQs of a government tourism site. And such a strange writing style. Can't quite put my finger on it...

....our family friends didnt either. Dad was in prison for yrs. Mum was in prison for 6 months. Their misstep would not have warranted the treatment they received in any democratic country. So yeah the advice remains try not to piss anyone off. Clearly you dont need to take it on.

goodness what did they do exactly?

Ooh I’m interested , I see influencers on instagram and do wonder things….by a community do you mean where you live is like a resort on holiday (iykwim) with a pool, restaurants etc? I see clubhouses mentioned, again is that where expats go and make friends and sort of all hang out together? Maybe a day in your life I’m interested in! .

You’re a temporary immigrant.

always thought the term was expat as not planning to stay long term

But is that any worse then 'asylum seekers' getting free NHS treatment here? At least OP contributed when she lived here!

There's a Ginebra convention law created in 1951 that holds all countries responsible for those being prosecuted for reasons of race, religion or political opinions, this happens everwhere pretty much everywhere in the world, not only the UK.

Personally I'd rather my hard earn goes to a poor sod that fled his war torn country than a wealthy woman dodging taxes while praising the violation of human rights in her tax heaven of choice, but that's just me.

Unfortunately I don't get to pick and choose were my taxes go to.

I’m not an immigrant, I’m an expat!

I have a home and family in the UK and plan on returning

Also why would I get rid of my passport, I am British

You really didn't understand my post, did you? Flowers

Oh behave. No one going to Dubai is getting free education, healthcare and access to benefits, it’s not even remotely the same thing. I’d also like to see people try to enter without a visa, I don’t think Dubai would put them on a bus and take them to temporary accommodation.

Observation not a question.

Black/Brown or any colour but white =immigrant
White=expat

You sound like the kind of person who expects people or are Black/Brown to integrate in the UK, speak English not live their own communities however in Dubai you wear shorts, speak English and live with other White people separately. The hypocrisy is astounding.

You also sound really selfish. You don't want to pay your taxes but want to return to the UK. Bet you will use the NHS at some point in your life.

I kiss my daughter does that count?

Private A&E in the UK? Where's that? Private fire and other emergency services?

Don't you think expats earning loads should pay some kind of insurance to cover use when home? All hypothetical as they don't but it is an AMA.

Anyone regardless of residency can use A&E.

I have enough money invested in the UK and have paid more in stamp duty, income tax than most probably earn in a lifetime
