Lindsay Clancy, what do we all think? Pure evil or mentally ill?

I do have experience. A very close family member suffered from post partum psychosis and she very sadly took her own life.

I’m sorry to hear it. But to apply your own statement you made of LC: I don’t think what she did can be excused by mental illness

Presumably you don’t apply that to your relative?

A relative with a mental illness doesn’t make someone qualified to evaluate and diagnose it in other people.

"Another person who’s not read the outcome and has come on a women’s board to defend a man who doesn’t need defending"

There's plenty of women still claiming he framed her; which is pretty disgraceful.

And reasonable doubts still requires interpretation; if verdicts were solely based on facts we wouldn't need juries. The judge explained repeatedly explained what reasonable doubts meant in this case and if the lone juror was ignoring " the facts" had the power to replace them with a reserve juror - but didn't do so because he didn't think that's what happened. Yet again people on the internet know better though!

Internet cranks are losing their tiny minds over this case. Just when you think nothing can surprise you about the virtual world...

A slew of social media addicted women, convinced she wasn't even responsible! They think they've spotted 'glaring' inconsistencies that Clancy's actual qualified defence attorney has missed. Absolute morons.

At her re-trial, she really ought to consider employing Tracey from facebook and Linda from tiktok. Cos who needs eight years in law school, when you have tiktok...??? And, the gold standard, wikipedia.

Examples of glaring inconsistencies being mentioned that the lawyer didn't pick up on?

It's not a question of believing 1 over 11. I'm highlighting the fact that one juror didn't back down from his position despite intense pressure which showed that he certainly didn't agree with the 11. It's obviously not a clear cut case.

I don't know whether she was psychotic or not and I don't see how people watching the court case online can make that judgement either when even the jury was divided.
The jury was made up of 9 women and 3 men. One man held out. I wonder is that fair to have an uneven divide of men and women seeing as men and women are generally having different reactions to the case but it's probably done randomly. Either way, it's hard to see how a retrail can be done fairly given the level of public scrutiny the case has had.

imo - men are too emotional to be on juries, this guy had doubts but wouldn’t back down because vibes and emotions

yes he could have gotten a reserve juror but everyone is so polarised what would have been the point after it was televised? You’d have to have been living under a rock.
why are you wittering on about misandry on a women’s board? Patrick’s off with his new gf in his million pound ny apartment he doesn’t need you

I've no idea what you're trying to say. I could hazard a guess but I would probably misinterpret it.

It’s reverse sexism my dear which is what you’re doing but yours is actual sexism

I don't think being mentally ill excuses her to be honest. Many women suffer post partum depression. Some women suffer post partum psychosis. Very very few of them MURDER their children.

She knew she was unwell. She had thought previously that she was capable of hurting them. She could have walked away and didn't

This is ludicrous. You cannot assume that all women with post partum psychosis are affected in the same way. You certainly cannot know what was going on in her head when she became convinced that she had to do this.

How condescending :-)
It's not sexism. There has been a general difference in the way men have reacted to the trial compared to women. It's observation.
Why do you think it's sexism?

Walkden · 05/09/2026 00:34

"why are you wittering on about misandry on a women’s board?"

Because it's very much in evidence in this case and it's cruel of you to minimise the trauma of losing his 3 children.

Disappointed100 · 05/09/2026 00:35

BruachAbhann · 05/09/2026 00:08

And despite what must have been intense pressure from the other jurors, the judge and the defence for LC one juror wasn't convinced and held out against them for something like 5 days? I think that shows considerable belief in his own opinion that she was guilty.

"According to court notes sent by the jury foreperson, the holdout juror acknowledged having doubts about Clancy's guilt but flatly refused to follow the judge’s instructions on applying reasonable doubt to the law. Under US law, if a juror has reasonable doubt, they are legally required to acquit"

Because women don’t get the benefit of the doubt the same way men do.
ive said this several times but ill say it again.
patricia Clancy leaves her babies with a hubby who’s off his tits on prescription drugs and the babies die. Patricia then gets a new partner, goes on holiday, buries three kids in one urn and gets preggers, not even attending most of the trial.
tell me Patricia gets the same leeway as Patrick with a straight face - oh wait you can’t

It’s really not. Misogyny is though.

I'm talking about women and men's reactions to the case though. Not how women and men are treated differently.

Walkden · 05/09/2026 00:39

"It’s really not."

Yes because men who kill all their children get donated millions of dollars, have massive crowds of supporters camping out outside the courtroom and internet sleuths trying to pin the blame on the bereaved spouse!

So you agree… you think Patrick’s getting loads of leeway a woman wouldn’t get then?
that’s great we’ll leave it here 😊

A jury of 12 could not unanimously convict… there is reasonable doubt she committed the crime so stop acting like it’s a fact she did and actually read the case… then you might understand why women are supporting her

Nat6999 · 05/09/2026 00:41

The fact she had been crying out for help makes me think it was mental illness not evil.

mulberrymilk · 05/09/2026 00:41

vinhoepimenta · 04/09/2026 22:19

The jury did and they wouldn’t convict her. Says it all. They’ve seen more than you and me.

idk why her lawyer did that. You’d have to ask him.
the judge even told the jury to acquit her if they had reasonable doubt and one held out. It’s a farce

A jury saw all the evidence and also declared OJ Simpson not guilty. Juries have biases and are not always particularly bright people.

Walkden · 05/09/2026 00:47

"A jury of 12 could not unanimously convict… there is reasonable doubt she committed the crime so stop acting like it’s a fact she did"

Well even the 11 who had reasonable doubt apparently wanted to plead not guilty because of insanity;rather than not guilty full stop "

I guess your right though; Patrick must have done it then...

You said that, not me. I agree with your point though ( despite it not being the point I was making) that women can certainly get a a harder time than men sometimes. I can think of lots of examples but it might enflame more people if I listed them😄and they're not relevant anyway.

I watched the whole trial and think she was mentally ill, but wasn’t overly convinced she met
the legal definition for insanity, given she only heard the voices / was in psychosis during the crime. But I do believe she was very unwell and let down medically.

Where can you watch the trial?

Gealach · 05/09/2026 00:56

I think it’s really obvious that you don’t go from loving mother to killer without some kind of psychiatric event. and everyone seems to agree that she was a loving mother whose life revolved around her children.

I just thank my lucky stars that I have not suffered from mental illness. I’ve had three children, the middle one was a terrible sleeper and I used to feel like I was holding on with thread at times when he was small. She had periods of not sleeping for 48 hours….then she looked after three children all day. She was put on 13 medications over 4 months. She had reached out for help countless times.

I can only feel deep sympathy for her and sadness for the situation.

The pill bottles prescribed were almost entirely full. She didn't tell any of the many doctors she asked for help about any thoughts of harming the children.

LetterBetter · 05/09/2026 01:45

I think the fact she killed 3 children that she loved dearly proves she was deeply unwell in psychosis at the time, and not in control of herself at all.
