Being told her father was a suspected paedophile must've devastated her back in 2018. I wonder in hindsight how much it impacted how she felt during her time in the UK post-wedding, and that it wasn't just the Royal way of life that drove her to depression.

Edited

I would feel sorry for her if she wasn't such an odious individual. Quite happy to throw RF under the bus knowing about her own father's allegations. I could go on

Lunde · 23/10/2026 22:05

I'm not entirely sure what she means by "cut all ties" as she very publicly sent him a letter when he was in hospital 10 months ago. At the time the narrative was that she was keen to be in touch. IIRC she got the US Embassy to deliver it.

A spokesperson for the duchess said it "has been exceedingly difficult for the Duchess to contact her father privately, despite her efforts over the past several days".
But, the spokesperson added, Meghan's letter "is now safely in his hands" thanks to the support of "reliable and trusted contacts".

Hopefully the usual journalists and Substacker/YouTubers are reading the thread and being reminded of these glaringly obvious facts, @Lunde.

And as for the Sussexes - getting into bed with The Sun just about sums them up right now.

I’ve just seen the palate cleansing clips of Willam on Graham Norton. When he laughs, he looks so like his mum

He just comes across as so genuine. Good humoured, sharp, intelligent and self effacing. None of the tedious arrogance, whining and petulance of his brother.

From the Times

The Met said that the force was aware of her comments about being passed a letter, adding: “We are undertaking enquiries internally in an effort to confirm this.”

It is understood the force has not investigated Markle Sr in the past and is not doing so now.

A representative of the Sussexes said they still have a copy of the letter that royalty and specialist protection officers shared with them. The representative added they are happy to give their copy of the letter back to the police if they cannot find the original.

It remains unclear what the letter contained and whether the allegations were treated as credible at the time.

From the Sun

However the Met Police said on Friday they were unable to confirm whether any letter had ever been shared with her.

But The Sun has seen a copy of the bombshell letter sent to a specialist Met protection unit.

It is clearly addressed to the Met’s Fixated Threat Assessment Centre (FTAC), which deals with risks posed by obsessives to the Royal Family and VIPs.

The letter – which it’s understood has now been shared with police – alleges …

In fact, it had been sent to the Met’s FTAC stalker and obsessive unit tasked with dealing with deranged maniacs posing a threat to Royals and politicians.

The letter is said to have been an attempt to warn the Met Police about fears over Mr Markle in the wake of the Windsor Castle wedding of Meghan and Harry.

Summary

There is apparently one letter.

It is addressed to the Fixated Threat Assessment Centre of the Met Police.

It contains 2 allegations against T Markle Sr.

The Sussexes have a copy, which they have offered (or have now given) to the Met Police.

It was apparently seen first by Meghan at some point in 2018.

Actually there was another mention, now I think about it - Harry’s account of Meg mistaking Andrew for QEII’s personal assistant and handbag carrier?

Because that happened Confused

Meghan has been very vocal about the fact that she met the HMTLQ for the first time at Royal Lodge, Andrew and Fergie's home, so how she could have ever claimed to not know who Andrew was is ridiculous.

So the letter thought her dad was going to gatecrash the wedding or am I missing something?

HAM will see this as a win. Victimhood. Ignoring the fact that she cut TM loose before this "letter". She also dumped her half siblings (ok, her brother is pretty vile). Only family member at wedding was Doria (who was missing for a huge part of her childhood)

In her statement, she says that the supposed 'letter' contained ' troubling and disturbing allegations' against Thomas Markle. That's rather vague. The obvious assumption is that the allegations are related to today's news, but for all we know they could concern something completely different. That's if the 'letter' exists at all.

My thoughts exactly. Two issues conflated. Rather like the alleged discussions about A’s skin tone and the question of him getting a title.

This doesn’t make sense why would a letter alleging these crimes be sent to this department? Surely it would have gone to the child protection unit?It doesn’t make any sense??

Considering the depart of the MET who allegedly have been sent this letter and at this stage we don’t know if the letter has been signed or sent anonymously as far as I am aware, could it possibly be a crazed Meghan fan thinking they were doing her a favour after all the trouble with the wedding?

Did this all happen around the time that Meghan's sister attempted to visit her at KP, but was denied admission, and left a letter instead (IIRC June 2018)

If it wasn’t all so serious it would be utterly bizarre. So the only copy of the letter is now in the sole possession of Meghan? I wonder who wrote it…?

AtIusvue · 23/10/2026 22:35

The sun:

A close friend of the Duchess speaking with her blessing said: “As a mum of young children herself, she is utterly devastated by all of this.
Read More on Royals
“Above all, her thoughts are with any children who may have been harmed. Their welfare and protection have to come first.
“After so many years of living with deeply troubling concerns, there is also a real sense of relief that these matters are now being properly investigated.
“She has been guided by legal advice about what she could say publicly and has had to live with the frustration of not being able to speak openly, while trusting that the appropriate authorities would do their job.
“It is a shame it has taken this long for these concerns to receive this level of attention, but she does want to acknowledge and thank The Sun for shining a light on the issues and helping bring the protection of children into sharper focus.’

My guess is that the 'letter' was sent to Meghan and was screened by staff, who sent it to the 'Fixated' whatever centre, who in turn passed the information onto Meghan. But that's just a wild guess!

The only thing we do know is that TM was not investigated in any jurisdiction as a result of these allegations.
