Steven died years ago , how we meant to remember all that ? Plus why he ended up in that fire and so on I’ve no idea. ( I think that it was a fire ?)
I can’t even remember why Max was mixed up with Steven , but he did go out with Lauren and Abby !
And he is AJ’s dad ..

Ohhh Steven was one of my favourite characters , but so tormented . He had the worst of the Bad Parentng .
Having Cindy as a Mum, Ian being lied to . Then he shot Jane .
He had a massive crush on Christian and believed he was gay .
And had his first sexual experience with Stacey .

He was with Lauren and Abi , overlapping sometimes . And stole a scan picture from the Vet where Abi worked to pretend he had a brain tumour .

(scan of a Red Setters brain !)
I loved the revenge he got on Ian , making him believe that Cindy was blackmailing and terrorising him. (Cindy was dead at the time but actually not-dead but we didn't know this )

Max shoved Steven and IIRC he was implaled on impact so an accidental death but the intention to harm

Shellingbynight · Yesterday 09:01

Steven was shoved on the edge of a table and had internal injuries, no impaling.
I quite liked him at the time, I don't understand why they killed him off. But they do like killing off young characters, Steven, Lucy, Abi, Denny.

80s I agree about Amy. I always thought they should do more with her because she had potential, but she's not exactly shining in this storyline. It should have had a big impact but they are both so wooden.

I knew it was in a kitchen and I was trying to think what it was that did the damage (I I knew it wasn't a knife ) I thought it was a shelving unit , they have everything industrial and stainless steel , but yes , corner of a table .
Poor Steven .
He was a scrote , and did a lot of harm through his lifetime

Why couldn't they have killed off boring Peter instead😕

Would we have noticed .........Grin

All I remember with AJ is her leaving with Max and walking behind trundling a little pull along suitcase. No one holding her hand or helping her. She must have been about 3. It was so sad 🙁

NowNumber5 · Yesterday 09:43

Thanks for that clip @lazymum99

Baby Abby showed more acting skills in those 3 minutes than the Hawkins clan and the J Twins put together!

How old would AJ be now?

I just found and watched this. EE was good then. I had forgotten that Max didn’t take baby Abbie with him then.

That's the one!
When Rainie opens the door and the little girl is waiting there , with her pink suitacase .

Did Max do this for Abi's benefit or Rainie's? Or his own. He probably didn't want the responsibility of a toddler .
And she was Abi back then. When did she get the God awful "AJ" ?

70isaLimitNotaTarget · Yesterday 10:03

Abi had her life support switched off Jan 2018 and baby Abi must've been born early 2018 , so she'd be 8 and a half -ish.

Will she come back to the Square ?
Nice child or utter feral?

Shellingbynight · Yesterday 10:15

Thank you for that clip 70s. And that is why I hated Max in those days, the self pitying self destructiveness. He left because he had just been turned down by Linda who went back to Mick. Little Abi was gorgeous, that look she gave him! I do remember her trundling the pink suitcase.

I think Cora announced (during her return when she met Muscles) that Abi wanted to be called AJ now. Being Abi Junior in memory of dead mum is a bit much for a kid!

I've been pondering the ridiculous Max/Zoe situation again (I know, I need to get a life). Maybe the writers intended to show Zoe asking Max for help in a desperate, confused, emotional way, so we were in no doubt that she really needed it, but Michelle Ryan's acting was so poor it didn't have the intended impact.

Though I might be giving the writers too much credit there 😄

Shellingbynight · Yesterday 13:19

I think you might be😆

All this is in the service of the flash forward, to give Kat a reason to hate Max to create tension about who is threatening Lauren and Oscar. (If it isn't Cindy or Ravi, I want my money back.😆)

Alucard55 · Yesterday 13:40

My money's still on Yolande.

Cannot take credit for the clip Shelling it was lazymum

When I watched on catchup ( as I do on a Thursday) either Max or Phil saw Amy going off and getting into Craigs car .
I think it was Max but it was after a conversation about the Trust Fund .

Then if they said to Jack&Jack "I saw your Amy getting into that Craig's car , I didn't know they were pally "

Jack&Jack being the great detective that he is would put the pieces together and think "Oh.... that's why she's being so mardy . He's got his grubby mitts on her and turning her head , the vicious little prevert . He's got previous for offences /alligations against young women , now he's targeting Ames. He did the blackmail , not her "

But no-one will say ought .And Jack&Jack won't see what's right in front of him.
Cannot find his bum with both hands Hmm

the80sweregreat · Yesterday 15:15

Why do you think Yolande ?Interesting one to pick , she’s more likely to try and forgive or bring people together! Unless it’s something to do with the twins, but she hasn’t that much to do with them really.
Patrick seems chilled on NYD and spoke to Oscar.
The Truman comment was intriguing, I wonder which one he is with by then ?

the80sweregreat · Yesterday 15:19

Max is keeping quiet because he wants the 50 k for Cindy from Amy’s trust fund! Needs to keep her onside.
He owes 10 to the tax office , so it’s a rum do all round financially.
Maybe Craig tries to kidnap Ethan and Jimmy ?

Shellingbynight · Yesterday 15:20

Yolande, good choice, it would be a total surprise 😉

70s it was Max who saw her get into the car. I assume he will tell J&J next week because they run off looking for her.

Meredusoleil · Yesterday 15:45

I think Max was intending to tell Jack at first as he ran quickly into the pun to find him. But then Cindy gave him a death stare and he changed his mind, coward that he is 🤦‍♀️

Meredusoleil · Yesterday 15:46

I thought the pp who suggested Yolande was joking 😳

Shellingbynight · Yesterday 15:56

It was a bit confusing with Max but I agree he may have been going to tell Jack about Amy, and changed his mind because of Cindy. But he needs Amy's money so I am not sure he would ever have told Max until the money was in his hands!

the80sweregreat · 22/10/2026 19:59

It is rubbish. Zoe phoned the emergency services and they ignored it as she didn’t make any sense.
Kat didn’t take her to the hospital either.

Agreed. But I suppose it's adding another motive to the pile.

You mean told Jack?

the80sweregreat · Yesterday 16:48

The way it’s going it may as well be Yolande , I said it before , but it would be very Tarantino if she started on people with a big gun!
