Why Mums Net ?

What about Dad's ? My Husband's a stay-at-home Parent & I work outside the home.
Everything is so Mum-centric & excludes Dads.

Should Mumsnet be renamed ParentNet ?

Maybe there are more, but they seem less prolific and visible overall. Dadsnet section used to be much more busy. There have been quite a few threads recently where I have been a lone, beleaguered male voice!!

Does Mothercare's name mean that Dads can't go in there?

And why does it stock children's clothes?

What about "Boots the Chemist" - it sells lots of things that aren't normally found in a chemists.

The name goes back to its origins, not what it is now. Dads (and even men) can and do contribute when and how they like. There may even be hairy truckers who are not even acknowledging their gender.

The point is the quality of the discussion - whether you are a mum or a dad, a parent or no intention of being one, trying to conceive or been through it all a long time ago - or just want the company. If you like it, stay and join in. If you don't, go elsewhere.

Plenty of fathers post on here, as do grandparents, childcare professionals without their own children and a surprisingly large number of interested non-parents. They could rename it ParentsAndNonParentsNet, but it's not exactly snappy.

Oh and if it were called parent net it would exclude those who are not parents, going by your rules, not very inclusive either.
