seems as though several people are thinking the same...AIBU is such a carbuncle, really.

it was funny at first but now it's just dragging us down imho

I wondered what the official thought was on this?

Thanks.

is there still a WWYD topic ?...many of the AIBU stuff would be better in there, tbh

cheesesarnie · 14/04/2010 17:03

but i cant remeber why

AnyFucker · 14/04/2010 17:03

lol @ poo-poo head

cheesesarnie · 14/04/2010 17:03

i find it a bit like watching eastenders.

theyoungvisiter · 14/04/2010 17:01

Maybe a change of title would encourage a less confrontational/self-righteous tone.

I vote for "Am I Being a Poo-poo head?"

Or maybe "Am I Being a tad over-wrought and need a slap?"

AnyFucker · 14/04/2010 16:58

pleeeeeeeease don't take my AIBU away from me

APassionateWoman · 14/04/2010 16:58

Why? Best bit of the site! Ignore ignore ignore if you don't like it.

If I have to endure fluffily titled postnatal threads and tiresome bitchfests debates about breastfeeding, others can jolly well put up with AIBU. Tis only fair.

StealthPolarBear · 14/04/2010 16:58

i used baby names to check whether my choice was the name of a mass murderer that everyone but me had heard of, or if it was slang or rhymed with any swear words i didn't know about. I already know i liked it and others - well somev will, some won't.

theyoungvisiter · 14/04/2010 16:56

A trolls topic is genius! You could call it "Under the Bridge"

StealthPolarBear · 14/04/2010 16:53

can we ban any thread that contains the words "school run dress" or "capsule wardrobe"?

Why is that Trafficcone - are you especially unreasonable?

OhFuck · 14/04/2010 16:07

I'm intrigued that anyone's actually got the energy spare to get annoyed by the presence of the topic on MN. If you don't like it, hide it. Or, like me, live in Active Convos and ignore anything which bores you to death.

Baby Names is pretty dire, but popular. Even if I do scan through the posts thinking "dog ... brat ... dog ... made up ... dog ... illiterate ..." someone somewhere must find it useful/entertaining.

There's massive chunks of MN Talk which I never frequent because I'm not interested. I assumed everyone did this - there's no rule saying you have to read stuff you don't like, AFAIK. Or AIBU?

Trafficcone · 14/04/2010 16:06

As far as I'm concerned it's Mumsnets major selling point. I belong to lots of parenting forums and AIBU is the thing that keeps me returning to Mumsnet.

MrsMargate · 14/04/2010 16:06

I take issue with the word 'unreasonable'.

It's a subjective term, innit.

What's reasonable to one person, isn't to anohter. So maybe it shoudl be called 'I'm not being unreasonable and if you think I am, fuck off, I'm going to rant anyway so you may as well agree with me because I'm in a reet old mood and I'm taking no prisoners, got it?"

Oblomov · 14/04/2010 16:02

I don't think it would help the 'name of MN' though, OP.
The damage thats been done to the name of Mn has been done by a number of things. Now irreversible.

MerlinsBeard · 14/04/2010 16:02

It should be called "I don't give a shit what you think, i think i am right now agree with me you bitches"

(IDGASWYTITIARNAWMYB)

Bit long?

MerlinsBeard · 14/04/2010 16:00

maryz there are too many "right places" and its really annoying. I don't want to trawl thru a thousand topics before i get to the right one.

Sections is fine but subsections is ridiculous.

WHat will it be next? News...good news/bad news/ national/local/within 10 miles of london/manchester/birmingham

GypsyMoth · 14/04/2010 16:00

i actually think there should be a separate MIL topic!

MrsShu · 14/04/2010 15:59

what about renaming it

" all opinions welcome"
so you have to put
" am i a twat - all opinions welcome" as your title

Threelittleducks · 14/04/2010 15:59

Ha ha ha, didn't realise how porno that sounded. IWAGITM!! (whiplash sound).

If that comes into being, may I please host it? Hee hee

MrsMargate · 14/04/2010 15:58

lol at 'minority sport like camping'

God you have made me realise I am cluttering up my screen with topics I have no desire to ever hear about - am off to find hide thank you.

I probably won't hide AIBU tbh because it can be so entertaining to read but do agree it can get way too venomous at times.

MrsMargate · 14/04/2010 15:57

I've never started an AIBU type thread because I'm not up myself that I need confirmation of my hoity toit.

Sort of agrressive question to begin with isn't it? Am I being unreasonable, well, am i AM I??????

I say let's retitle it 'Hmmm, what do you think of this, all opinions welcome, dearies'
