What SINGLE thing would make Mumsnet better for you?

My thread. My rules. No arguments.

Right, I will start:

I do wish people would spend more time reading than posting. So often you have a thread (quite often an AIBU) where someone says "I haven't read the thread but YABU" or more often lately the highly unnecessary YABVVVVVVVVU when the thread has moved on hugely since the op, the arguments have all been had, everyone has bitched and moaned, made up, had a cup of tea, done a bit of ironing. If there is a slightly sparky looking OP and hundreds of posts on a thread, why not take that as a clue that the thread may well have moved on, questions asked and answers given, and read before you post?

I agree with Rustybear on the threaded columns, I find them very confusing.

Don't like being able to edit posts, unless it is apparent that the post was edited. The thread would not make sense if bits of it have been changed.

Or edit allowed until the next person posts a reply.

I could combine cut glass tumblers and nostalgia threads by starting a nostalgia thread on the subject of "do you remember when you could get decent glasses from the garage?" Of course, I am as old as your mum and remember collecting them myself In the really old days, those glasses even lasted. My mother still has some (not cut glass) which I believe would withstand a direct hit by a nuclear device. Miles better than anything Nutella or Ikea can come up with these days.

I also remember when Esso gave away lovely posters of Tigers.

I really hate forums that have a threaded view rather than a linear one like Mumsnet - it's confusing, you never know if you've followed all the 'trails' and anyway half of MN's charm is the way a thread starts off on potty training and ends up on Victoria Sponge Cakes....
