What SINGLE thing would make Mumsnet better for you?

Right, I've just posted on another thread and remembered what really winds me up! When you hit 'post message', the screen refreshes and takes you back to the OP at the top. This is really annoying cos you then have to scroll down to see how pithy and incisive your post looks.

I would like a 'confidential' section where you can post stuff that can't be found by Googling or by journalists other unscrupulous people / stalkers.

Before I go off hiding threads, we definately need Blackberry/ i-Phone versions for mning on the loo go.

Being able to give a thumbs up & thumbs down to a post (like on Facebook)

To be able to read posts when screen is minimized without having to scroll across. Could fit in with iphone app.

Better, more clearly descriptive thread titles. I hate those "I can't believe THIS happened" (or similar). They usually end in three or four full stops like this?.

...and I have to open it to find out if I am interested in reading the contents. My time on here is precious. I hate clicking and waiting for a page to load only to find out its some codswallop I have zero interest in.?.

Usually the ones I'd remove are the ones which I threadkilled turned out to be tedious, or mildly irritating, so may just as well be zapped from my list

Sometimes I would like to be able to send private messages to other MN members without giving out my email address ifywim.

but really should be a delete button on threads I'm on.

Cider that's not too hard, you click on hide on the thread itself and bang it vanishes from I'm on page too - discovered by fluke! It is a pain I know but possible if you have a few minutes.

I'd like to be able to delete threads from 'Threads I'm On' like you can with 'Threads I'm Watching'.

A) it would tidy up my list, and B) some things you just don't need to be reminded of

Well I'm already getting really irritated by that hide button.

Straight after the thread title with no space, and repeated 50 times down the page. It makes it really difficult to read the thread titles properly. Why can't we just have a little x on the right hand side, or something equally unobtrusive?

Might have to go back into customise and get rid of it again...

Thanks hormones and BOF, I've just been and changed my preferences so I can hide all the gumph I don't want to read! It could be improved by being able to tick a load of boxes next to all the threads and then clicking to hide them all at once. A bit like you do when deleting emails. My computer's really slow so that would save a lot of time.

There was another option called 'Ignore Thread Stickies' - any ideas what that means?

A journalist filter so we don't end up with threads like this being quoted in articles like these.

i think that would be a good reminder that mnay read/lurk with interst but don't post, so it is worth adding you advice to a thread even if there doesn't seem to be alot of posting on it.

Also a good reminder about how large and public MN is, not a bad thing.
