A leetle bit concerned about privacy with these status thingummies...

MNHQ- after some pootling about, I seem to have worked out that your status is applied retrospectively to recent name-changes.

Tell me, where does that leave us when we post on bumsex on sensitive topics with a name-change?

If somebody hovers over the namechange days later and sees something fabulously witty that just happens to match what BitOfFun has on her status today, the whole privacy thing is going to fall apart, isn't it?

Perzactly BoF. I have namechanged for sensitive threads as i have RL friends on here, and I don't really want that advertised.

Think is, Jack, it's not really a solution either, is it?

We don't really know how far back this retrospective thing applies- it effectively means you can never use the status thing if you've ever namechanged since they introduced the statuses.

BitOfFun you're quite right about this, we needed to change the way it works. Not being technical am not sure quite how complicated the change is, so in the meantime KentuckyFriedPenguin's solution sounds like a good stopgap. We will let you know soonest when a real fix is likely to come.

Because if it's advice, it still doesn't help with the privacy- any old names still show up what your status is currently saying.

I might have misunderstood you though.

whn you name change you need to change status too- which is the box above (or was it below) the namechange box)
