What's this about certain Mners being invited to the tenth anniversary party?

How were people chosen? I hope everyone's name was put into a hat and a certain number chosen at random.

I suspect not.

The writer has received an invite, probably because she is a journo, not sure if being a MNetter has anything to do with it.

Ah sorry, these invites are to competition winners are they? I think I may have misunderstood. I thought that the writer of the article had received an invite. Not won a competition.

Or are you saying she has had an invite because she is a journalist who just so happens to also be a Mner? Wow, what a coincidence

I think the members number is around 350,000 these days. That's the figure I tend to throw around anyway.

Pagwatch, how would you decide on the regulars though? Imagine the outrage that would cause.

I expect those people who have worked with mumsnet have been invited, and the rest of us have a chance to win ticket by writing a haiku, seeing as we like them so much on here

It's entry for MNHQ and volunteers, Journos, and people who win the haiku comp. Not favouritism or cronies or cliques. Quit moaning and write a haiku!

Guttersnipe: I'm not very good at using the search facility but the reason I know Mumsnet does not have 850,000 users is ecause MNHQ confirmed it to me and threadworm (under her then name) some time in the last three months of last year, when we were questioning that figure as it was being used in the little flurry of press coverage and the Radio 4 prog (think it was Woman's Hour) we had then. Probably November or December I should think.

Late last summer I was curious as to how many members there were so I asked a few newbies to look up their registration number and most of them were around the 260,000 mark. So registered users had gone from 0 to 260,000 in the first 9 and a half years of the site and I very much doubt it went up another 600,000 in the following few months.

But I can't find that thread now!

I don't think I'm regular enough, plus MNHQ would be worried that I'd bring the bag so almost certain not to invite me.
Oh, and I also couldn't go either, but I could be all Diva like and pretend to have something more important to do that evening.

I would like to see more regular mumsenetters added to the list. They are after all the life blood of MN , surely.
And I say that knowing that I would almost certainly be a) not selected and b) not able to go.
