I'm confused about the Friday Night Topic bringing in weirdos... This is Mumsnet, isn't it made up of weirdos? If we weren't weird wouldn't we be on Bounty or NetMums or somewhere equally fluffy?

Thing is, you can be smutty everywhere still. But specific "How do I know what strap-on my eric will enjoy?"-type threads can ooze away in a corner without irritating too many people.

I think there are two very interesting angles to all of this.

Firstly, SOH or MNHQ deciding bumsex should be in a separate area places a value judgement on it: it shows that they consider bumsex to be an atypical activity. Much can be gleaned about SOH's sex life when we know where she would put sado-masochism, fetishism, transvestitism etc., to name but a few

Secondly, I put it to you, ladies, that bumsex has nothing whatsoever to do with bumsex: it is about rebelling, being naughty, saying rude things and chortling in public. If we hide it away then we lose that element of it. I, for one, don't really want to go off into a corner and have a big discussion about anal sex, but I do like being rude and silly and scrutinising other people's passages
