can't you get the mners who work/worked in tv to make things? at least one of us used to be a documentary-maker.

agree with those who say we should be aiming for a Woman's Hour remit rather than a GMTV one.

Woman's Hour's not perfect, but it does manage to do the "grapes in supermarket" "lack of clothes for the larger lady" debates, but in among serious stuff and intelligent debate.

I thought the interview was great but the other clips didn't really get across the personalities of the mners for me.

Also it was a bit "lite" - a bit GMTV - a bit (dare I say it) netmums.

I think people come to MN for the brash, larger than life characters and cheeky banter (which did come across in the Will Young interview) and for the intelligent views which, frankly, were missing throughout.

Looking at this you would think the majority of us are pre-occupied with style and spend our time doing weirdy rants in darkened bedrooms.

And, I think you need to try to get over the vitality of the interaction on MN, the edcuated views, the deeply held convictions the intelligent debate alongide the funny frothy shallow stuff and the general fiesyyness of MN, all these needs to come across. You don't have to choose beteween the serious and frothy, MN is both, because women are both.

Groups of MNers, wine, and a good editor are the way to go imo.

I thought the style stuff was not great.

I think you need to get groups of MNers together and just film the conversations, and then edit it show the discussions with differing viwepoints/heated debates/hilarity etc, like a thread but live.

you could do this with serious topics, like politics, topical news, womens issues, this would have more aof a Any questions feel,then and also do the AIBU live debates (this would be great! so fiesty and funny) and the fashion would work this way too. getting Mners to try stuff on and the group critique it (add wine for maximum effect). You could do this with fashion topics like school run dress, what to wear on a night out in the pub, what lengths skirt is trashy/frumpy, is there a non frumpy yet watermac out there etc? AND you could critique in groups shops seasonal collections, Boden/Next etc big try on andcommenting sessions-Oh!! the power potential there! potential great publicity for them but also risky!

Mn panels also with well known figures discussing rather than being talked to-eg get women from bravissimo into to discuss bras with real mners, get politicias in for live debate, basically your webchats but live.

I think mumsbox is a good name, and I think if you can get it right it could work really well and become quite influential as the webchats have.

the music was a bit rubbish, yes. it's hard to know what you should be doing, i think, whether it should be This Morning or Newsnight. there must be a middle ground to occupy that doesn't make fools of us all.

i'd be inclined to do a video diary type of thing where you send a digi camera to an mner for some insight into her life. i'd like to know what's going on wiht our island mners, and those from abroad. it would have been great to see how the mountain mners coped during the snow, very ray mears. or a diary of a birth, esp if it was one where we had been of service online.

tbh i can't stand loose women, so the idea of more cackling women on the telly is a bit of a turn off. but then you'll never please everyone.

... and it would appear that the humour of the way AIBU was treated was a bit lost!

It looked a bit amateurish (sorry), though the mumsnetters came across really well, I think I prefer them anonymous, it loses a bit of the mystique for me otherwise.

I didn't like AIBU at all, that topic is all about the debate and it was just a ranty lady. Why blurred out as well? If you feel that strongly about something it shouldn't be blurred.

Overall it made me cringe a bit. If my DH or someone from my family watched it as an example of mumsnet I think they would really get the wrong impression of why I like mumsnetting so much. I especially didn't like the norks bit, its a bit of an in-joke and doesn't come across well on the film.

• Everyone sounded the same. Too London.
• Really liked Mamazon + Reality - would have liked to seen more.
• Really liked Mars from this and the other video clippy things too
• Liked Michelle's friend. Very funny. And Michelle of course.
• Thought asking Will Young for advice on how to deal with gay children was good but didn't quite hear his reply properly.
• Hated the fashion bit. The ladies were great but the tips were predictable and very dull. Outfits were blah and it was like a sixth form, dulled down version of every other makeover show ever.
• Mumsnet haircut - Far too rushed. It would have been good if she'd done it properly - maybe with a bit of drama. I straightened my hair before I did it - really don't think it works with curly hair - you could see an awful choppy chunk at the front.
• Didn't like AIBU because it only presented one side of the argument, in a very snotty way. Was it supposed to be funny? Liked the suggestion to have a shopkeeper's opinion etc.

Would rather see the AIBU bit something along the lines of Question Time - more of a debate than just a rant.

And agree with ButterPie that there needs to be more politics or at the very least, a harder edge. Although I quite enjoyed the piece, frankly if I was any of the webchat visitors we've had over the last few months and had seen it, I would be wondering why on earth I would want to be on MN.

Bloody hard to capture the essence of MN in a short piece, but I don't think we're all about froth, S&B or just AIBU - even if those are the boards that get most posts.

Agree with Butter Pie. Think we should be aspiring to Woman's Hour/Question Time rather than Loose Women/This Morning.

I come on mumsnet because it isn't full of the froth you find on other "women's" sites. We do sometimes talk about crap, but in an intelligent way. Those bits could have been good as part of a larger programme, but alone they are just the same dumbed down stuff that men without kids have been doleing out to mums for years.

Make little documentaries, or I like the question time/loose women cross idea.

It needs to be aimed more at mumsnetters, not just women in general. Look at what the site does well- support, arguing, making this face

I think the whole thing had potential but was very lacking in places.
The filming on the make over wsa shite! I think it would work in a house setting but only if it was very modern and open plan.... like if someone had a big kitchen living area.... you could use manakins kinda like how they do in 10 years younger when they stlye them then re-introduce the ladies once changed and give opinions on the new look.

I thought that the graphics looked like something from a project I might haave done at school on power point. They really need sorting out coz they looked really cheep and amaturish!

I agree with the others. the format wasnt great. If you had a panel of women for discussion you could cut to clips of fashion, cooking, beauty tips, cleaaning etc. theres loads of scope but it needs more work and moeny put into it. hth

I think it's great if going for the Richard & Judy look, pre when they attempted to go all intellectual with their book group stuff and move from ITV.

I would prefer a more polished version of this genre, personally. Otherwise, a pastiche of crap daytime tV that is v.v. obviosu satirical.

MumsView is good- I like it.

The Loose Women reference is only to the format- we would be MUCH better at it.

Didn't like the style bit much, especially the stairs shot - but if you're going to do it, at least tell us where the outfits are from (or is that advertising?) I did like the cardigan that Princess Toadstool ended up in.

The AIBU was quite funny but too many repeated close up shots of child and grape. Expand it for interest - have a shop assistant's POV, that kind of thing

Style was good - not convinced Michelle's hair was that much better after though! Looked a bit rats'taily to me, and I used to have similar hair.

The interview was good though!
