We need your ideas on what's good for Mother's Day please

I dont want to bring the thread down but :

It means so much to me when someone remembers that I wont be getting a card or present from my DD. Its very touching when people mention her or send me a note.

Mother's day is very hard for bereaved mums. (and of course those who have lost their mums).

Weekend in London with my dd1 [5].

That is the thing I dream of at the moment. Central hotel and travel pass, with return rail travel. Fabby.

Are you going to get that for me. Awww thanks towers. I'll request the weekend off work.

I'm quite traditional- a nice lie in, a bunch of cheerful flowers, a few chocolates and a card with a scribble from ds in it would make my day.

A proper lie-in, ie one which involves DH taking DD out for the early part of the morning, so there is no way on earth I can be disturbed. When they return, I would like to be given a hand-made card, a cup of coffee and a copy of the Observer. Don't mind about the rest of the day.

i would love finger print jewellery and a photo session and photo of me and the dcs.

DH will go out & buy flowers and chocolates - but he will not take the children with him so it is not really from them. Or he will take them and buy the cheap supermarket variety and I have spent years training them to choose the more expensive bouquets - time for a refresher course!

Or would love a professional photograph - or at least one without the distracting clutter that is in this house.

I'd like a lie in until with a cup of coffee and the papers whilst dh gives the dcs breakfast, and I'd like him to do the whole dinner, bed, bath hell bit.

I don't want cards, overpriced flowers, spa days, or any 'things'. Just a bit of time off from the everyday drudgery.

I second the afternoon tea thing, we did it for DHs birthday last year and it was wonderful.

I would love the finger print jewellery.. I know it can be a little naff but I would love it...eventually I could get them made into charms for my links.

Er, that's it. I'm easily pleased.

My DH bought me half day at the relaxation center, in clifton. He booked two treatments and put my favourite tunes on my iPod.

I bought my mum a champagne and cream tea with my Dad at a local country house hotel last year - she bluddy loved it. Me - well I'm always happy with the home-made cards from the DDs but I would be grateful if DH steered them towards something other than strange violet scented toiletries at the otherwise exemplary school Mother's Day sale....

Gosh... for me, I'd just like for DH to (i) remember and (ii) actually mark the occasion.

Last year (the first as a mum) I got a card (not a mothers day card, just a regular notelet) and a packet of jellybabies.

I'm not planning to leave it to DH chance this year, I'll be organising a lovely day out with my DC (No childcare, but that's OK, I enjoy spending time with them)

I'd like to go for a lovely walk with them, have tea / lunch and then let them sleep.

And, I'll probably make myself a little dish of their hand prints.

I got a poem too when ds1 was only a year old with handprints on and i love looking at it on the kitchen wall, it reads;

Mummy i love you
for all the things you do
i'll kiss you and hug you
cause you love me too

You feed me and need me
each special day
so smile cause i love you
on this mothers day!

Was made at nursery, also another lovely mothers day surprise i have had is bacon sarnie and a coffe bought to me in bed by ds (well the sarnie anyway) along with lovely pictures and lots of hugs and cuddles!!!

Tickets to a show and lunch/dinner for some other day...with childcare sorted (DH did this for my b'day last year and still doesn't realise just how many Brownie points that got him!). Show was Priscilla - twas fabulous, so double Brownie points!

Umm...hard to think as there's a very good chance I will be in labour or have a newborn on or around 14th March!

I have this poem and her handprints framed from when DD was tiny - it makes me smile whenever I look at it (in the loo ].

Sometimes you get discouraged
Because I am so small
And always leave my fingerprints
On furniture and walls.

But every day I'm growing -
I'll be grown some day
And all those tiny handprints
Will surely fade away.

Theatre tickets and an offer to babysit so I and DH can go (that one not from DH or the kids, obviously). Or a whole day out to go and have lunch and a gallery with a friend sans children. Or a day at Centreparcs or somewhere else the children will be so happy it will be a huge treat for me too.
