Carrie's on You and Yours (R4) visiting Lapland UK (plus one of her children and one of Justine's, so should be amusing) and Justine got the short straw is on The Daily Politics talking about 'the Mumsnet election' (BBC2).

Well its great to be here as a Dad but I think the media has inevitably been quite lazy and is beginning to present this as some sort of 'womens issue' forum. While there are mainly women here and women do obviously still take the burden of childcare responsibility I just think MNHQ need to be careful that it presents itself as a 'parent issue' forum even if it has a mainly female audience.

For example, I think one of the things MN could campaign on is fair treatment of parents (Mums and Dads) that allows freedom to split maternity/paternty leave. That would be a great message to send to politicians.

It would be fantastic if a few younger 'soon to be Dads' or perhaps 'bereaved Dads' came here to ask for advice and give advice too. Hope they will as a result of the publicity.

Still think MNHQ are doing a fantastic job though and no criticism from me.

Carrie is on Sky now with Rachel Johnson.

Its almost like her and Justine are living in the corner of my kitchen at the moment.

She has just said politicians should come on MN and read the threads to find out what we are really talking about. Is that wise?

Just a little thought. MN is being perceived as a site exclusively for Mums in the media. MNHQ are not at fault but it woudl be nice if they would mention it is parenting site and there are a few Dads too and more would be welcome to join.

Perhaps MNHQ will be exempt but suspect some of us labour party activists dogged posters might get a bit roughed up. Is it bad that I rather like that idea?

I got it in the end, it came up when I refreshed - was just amused by the thought that maybe even the MN servers didn't want anything to do with Daisy...

Ok some news and gossip:

On the plus side - I met and shook hands with ROY HATTERSLEY (i'm saying that in a Dermot off the X-factor introducing Whitney Houston voice)

On the slightly more worrying side - interviewer who turned up from Sunday Times this morning - they told me they didn't know who it was going to be yesterday - was... ahem... Daisy Goodwin.

Am sure she'll be decent though [nervous emoticon]

Thanks for the tip about the knee-scratching, will work on that - not sure what I can do about being knackered-looking though...

The interviewer is a little peculiar isn't she? All that 'well we could talk about this for ages but it's a big news day'. Justine did v. well - I like the fact she moved it away from us all only being interested in mum talk and actually having wider opinions.
