Well we don't want to put advertisers completely off paying MNHQ money, else we may lose mumsnet
So hope you don't mind me suggesting things that may, or may not work... in place of the silly animated ads, which clearly aren't working so aren't really any good for the advertiser, or MNHQ.

I've interacted with the advert... I know, bad thing to do! It seems to be going through to I Can Cook a Honey Tea Loaf on iPlayer. Would have thought it more logical to link to the I Can Cook mini-site... ideally to the recipe's area, so we could (if we felt so inclined) print off the recipes and give them a try.
I do wonder what they are trying to achieve from the ad... more people to use iPlayer?

Justine... surely the BBC lot must have some some things they want to tell us about, get our feedback on... not sure what exactly but if they are spending money on ads, then they must have some aim in mind. Maybe they need a micro-site type thing instead, perhaps a discussion thread about their latest programme idea (5yr old I care for seems to love that strange prog with the cartoon characters with real heads... DirtGirlWorld). So instead of doing an annoying animated ad, they pay you for the privilege of being able to ask us for our views and comments on latest programme ideas.

No idea how it works but I think I remember MN saying they have an agency doing their ad selling for them, so we tick the "people with children" box so we get the ads.

What I don't get is... why does Cbeebies need to advertise? I get the whole "developing the brand" thing but not sure what the ads achieve.

Hang on... maybe the BBC wants us to moan about the ad? Maybe that is their aim... we moan about it, we chat with our RL and MN friends about it, so in doing that we are spreading the word that the BBC are trying to promote something on CBeebies.

Tis a bit like selling snow to the eskimos as well innit?

As a licence payer, can we request the BBC to display an advert which is a blank box, just saying that the BBC supports Mumsnet.
It's our money isn't it (well I suppose the BBC will say it isn't, but if we didn't pay it, they would soon be getting in touch to demand it!).

Can MNHQ invite the Ad Campaign manager of BBC Cbeebies onto Mumsnet to chat with us about the purpose of thier adverts. Currently they just seem to be annoying people, rather than encouraging us to do something - what are they trying to achieve?

Mumsnet I can see needs the income... so are not going to turn advertisers away, but the adverts need to be relevant to the target audience otherwise we won't click... we will just get upset and start threads moaning about the ad.

Nowt wrong with the child. The problem is someone has filmed her and put her on a sodding ad on MN.

I wonder how they measure the success of these ads?

And whether they take any notice of feedback like this?

If it was my own child waving at me constantly on my screen i'd find it annoying. In fact that is the most annoying thing about it, it attracts my kids to the computer.

They are missing the whole point aren't they? Cbeebies is something we stick the children infront of so we can MN we do NOT want to see bloody annoying cbeebies children waving at us whilst we are mn'ing.
