I don't want my dcs looking over my shoulders and seeing certain nicknames and asking what they are.

Agree with Slubber, DP and MP. It's boring and unfunny, though I appreciate we all find different things funny, but honestly - is anyone still chortling over, say, 'AnyFucker' every time they see it, or do they not even notice it now? See, that's the thing - swearing can make a useful emphasis, and it can grab attention when sparingly used, and it can amuse, in the right place. But overdone and habitual, it becomes redundant and meaningless.

I don't want MN censored but I'd love it if people acknowledged their right to swear all they like - but then decided not to bother.

Was a bit shocked at CW's name must admit. The daily mail are quoting shorter versions of names in the column so CW could become 'Whack'. The whole name change so the Mail won't quote you thing is not necessary and has resulted in oneupmanship as to who can come up with the rudest name. It does seem to be no holds barred on here with language in names.

Btw the origin of the word is 'Cunny'. I quite like it, shall I claim it?

Wonder if MNHQ are going to comment on this.

I have to say I don't like the swearing in posters' names. I am not overly keen on lots of swearing in posts but don't like it in thread titles either. I do however understand that sometimes no other word will do. I swear myself. A lot. To DH's disgust.

But swear words in names just strikes me as juvenile, attention seeking and lacking in imagination.

There's s lot pretty sloppy language usage on this thread so far. At least the swearing's been non-ambiguous.

I just think there is a time and place for swearing and coupled with a glass and a group of friends on a weekend i can be foul...

Not keen on HAVING to see it on here in names...

We're only human, senua, and some of us have childish urges. Again, MN is for everyone. I mean, there are plenty of threads I object to, and some people have very different opinions that I find offensive. Yet somehow I survive, and keep coming back.

Why shouldn't I have that name and post where I want. After all, mn is about freedom of speech. If people who have been the victims of dv/sexual asalt don't like it then maybe mn isn't the thread for them ey?
