Quick! Fancy some family tickets to Ice Age 3 this Saturday?

I didnt mean to sound like I was moaning, as was lucky to go and had a lovely time, but when you have over an hour to wait with 2 kids with nothing to do, I just would have arrived later. Butb was pretty stressed as got lost on the way, couldnt find it, DH was feeling sick, DD2 was crying. But once film started was a fab time. thanks Adam

Just read whole thread, not been on MN since Thursday. TBH when I read the list of entertainment that may be available, I just expected it to be minimal, we were all so excited to go to cinema, it's something we couldn't have afforded to do, even on a special offer. The kids were made up with every bit of it and I was soo grateful.

I found the rucksack to be more than enough for one per family rather than child, DS didn't know what to do with all of his toys he was so excited opening them all.

Thanks Adam, my sister and I both received family tickets for Hull, as did another family member who emailed themselves and applied.

We received lovely family photo each, were entertained by magician, and each family got a rucksack of toys!

My DS had never been to the cinema before and LOVED it, was a bit confused with his 3D glasses though at first!

We have been away camping for the weekend and came back into town for our cinema treat - we were all very happy with the experience and wanted to say a big THANK YOU!

I would also like to say a big THANK YOU to Adam (it sounds like you did your best with a difficult situation), and mumsnet, for letting us know about this.

We had a great time (in Nottingham), the film was great (first time 3D for DH and me altho DS has been to 2 other 3Ds with friends), the rucksack full of stuff a super surprise for DS.

Admittedly the pre-show entertainment was less expansive than the OP had promised, but we were TRULY impressed by the card tricks done in DS's hand by the magician. It left DS speechless, which is a magic trick in it's own right !!

We went on for lunch afterwards, using a 50% off voucher I got from the newspaper, so we had a super day out, on pocket money.

Im not at all, i was merely giving a critque of the day and said that teh goody bags were fantastic but limited but that as they were so full it wasn't a problem.

I have said that it was a great giveaway and we were very gratefull, especially due to the extra 2 children they let usbring

Am amazed at some people moaning on here about goodie bags or lack of entertainment.

I was grateful to have won tickets (couldnt normally win an argument ), it meant that we saved about £20 as would normally cost for 4 of us to go.
We went to Cardiff and they just had a magician, but he was great, and so what about the other stuff, a magician was better than the usual miserable teenager who can barely utter a sentence serving you over priced cinema food.
We loved the film and were really impressed with the backpack (I was thinking goodie bag = party bag type thing full of crap), probably 75% was girl orientated but ds like a couple of things in there and will give the rest to his friend across the road.

I thought that as well suwoo, that as they only had a certain no of backpacks then that limited the tickets?

Perhaps filling all the cinema seats, but with a backpack to the first X no through the door would have been a better way to go?

The whole lower section of the Manchester cinema was completely empty and families were very spread out throughout the rest of the seats, was 1/4 full at the most.

DH did have a good point though, even though there were many empty seats across all the cinemas, maybe Woolworths only had a certain number of tickets to give away due to costs etc. So even though there were spare seats, maybe all the allocation was used?

I know we have had a moan, mainly on behalf of those who didn't get tickets- but it was still a £50 per family giveaway- which is not to be sniffed at.

So RubberAdam, since I e-mailed well before 6,but the offer wasn't available in N Ireland, will future VIF offers be available in Northern Ireland we shopped in Woolies too!??

Hi, we were in cardiff today. we were shocked tbh at how little people there were, there were lots of empty seats. before the film we got there early and there were only one other family there, there were no WII's or anything but there was a table football game that kept them amused for a bit, there were arcade type games there but you had to pay for those. they took a photo in front of the ice age cutout thing and we receieved this at the end with a fridge magnet thing.
there was a magicigan who was quite good, who spent 3/4 mins with each family.

It was a bit disorganised with timing and we were told te film wouldnt start till 10.30 instead of 10, although to their credit they start it a little earlier.

as we went into and during the film they did take quite a few photos, the fil was great though and we did get a backpack full of toys etc afterwards with the magnet photo.

overall it was quite good and the kids loved the toys and bits in the bag, but could of been organised a little better.

thanks lisad, i had completely forgotten about the £1 thing (seeing as we never go!) DH and I were going to try and get to see Harry Potter but by the time we can afford it it will be out on DVD instead

I would always go before the saturday to buy and collect tickets, quene is huggge on saturdays. glad they get to go

Bolt is showing at ours so will take the boys on Saturday t a reminder to book next week when some money goes in teh bank (before the bank steak it back )

lol we have "screaming" instead of screening at our local little cinema.

Not heard of that LisaD and i have a more local cineworld than the cinema i was trying to get ice age 3 tix for. Will go look at their site for next w/e. Thanks for that!

ah see we normally wait till movies come out on "movies for jr" days at weekends. its £1 per child at our local cineworld, and regurds food, we say kids have food allergies and they let you take in. although as a treat did buy popcorn today.

hmm yes but we should have al been able to get tickets for today too and there will be alot more than MNEtters applying on the site.

TOMP - there were around 4/5 different parties involved in the events, making it all the more complicated with entry deadlines. It made it difficult with any guarantees and we did our best to get who we could in on time considering. The quick in the thread title changed to quicker!

MoM - you should be able to get hold of a ticket if you book on the site early. The system will also be a lot more automated and organised than this one-off event ;)
