Lets just say too much wine and Mumsnetting do not good bedfellows make. Slightly off topic but I've been gone a few months, my laptop crashed, there seems to be a lot of Mn'rs missing or maybe loads of new ones have joined but I seem to be looking at loads of unfamilair names but where is everyone?

Libras - IIRC because regular posters there were fed up of dealing with rather critical/unhelpful/hurtful posts from people who hadn't realised it was an SN thread. So you'd get someone saying 'OMG, I can't believe you let your horrible child get away with acting like that', or 'Oh, that's entirely normal, don't know what you are worrying about'.

Can I ask why you have to opt-in to see the SN board?

Oh I know BoF, but then you are a person with lots of awareness of it. I pot in just because it gives me a great awareness and insight, iyswim.

I think it's more that they haven't opted in...I explained that I didn't use it because I generally use the site to escape my worries and relax after nights at the coalface of special needs (!) and that it's not because I'm a horrible person iyswim...

Am I the only one that thought it sad such a high percentage avoid the special needs topic?

Can you have degrees of lurking? I rarely post mostly because I don't feel I have anything new, interesting or witty to add, but do love reading some threads as they are very clever and funny.

So I am partly a freak for lurking but mostly a coward as I don't want to be shouted at, even though only in cyberland!

I did read on one thread (whilst lurking) that someone got scolded for being too nice!

I've never been told off by MN but have tried in the past to receive that ticking off. Once you get a name as reasonable then a few rude comments (ahem) doesn't wash, it seems.

What do you actually have to do to be told off by MN? Am intrigued.

I would have thought the entertainment thing was important to most online communities, I wouldn't come here if I didn't enjoy the threads.
