So who's embracing the new look mumsnet?

Hi, that's OK Pixel - I hate having to scroll horizontally too, so I know how annoying it is. There are lots of people complaining about the big margins, but if they weren't there you & starlight would have even worse problems - at least they cam zoom in & the text is readable.

Is this any help with changing the overall font size?

Ok, something has to be done about the thread titles being cut off! I just read a title,

"Have you ever made the decision to cut your mother..." !! Very weird!!

Ok, I changed the screen resolution and everything now fits on the page but everything is ridiculously tiny, not just on Mumsnet but on everything else I want to look at.
I might just seem bolshy now but 1/ I like to flit between sites keeping an eye on different things. Why should I have a choice between putting up with everything being titchy tiny or having to reset the screen resolution every time I want to pop on to Mumsnet? A problem has been caused that wasn't there before and it isn't my fault.
2/ I already have bad eyesight and I'm not going to risk making it any worse by peering at the screen thank you very much.

Sorry Rusty, I'm not having a go at you, you are doing your best to be helpful and I do appreciate it, but this just isn't funny any more.

Thanks for the suggestions, Rustybear but nothing seems to help at the moment. I've got to solve it though, as I nearly always have to split the screen with dd because our computer is our tv too!

Zooming out so the horizontal scroll bar disappears has helped some people, though there may then be problems with text size - some people seem able to change it & others don't. Starlight has a similar problem & it got a bit better when she changed her screen resolution - see this thread the posts today.
The bbc news site seems to cause similar problems for starlight & the link in my 12:18:58 post may explain things better than I do (I'm awful at online/phone help, as I always need to actually do stuff to remember where everything is)

Rustybear, just came on to see if anything has improved but unfortunately not.

I'm using Internet Explorer, which I've never had a problem with before.

I've never tried safari on a MAC, but can you zoom out & increase the text size? It seems to work for some people but not others - it's fine on my iPhone which uses a modified version of Safari

I generally like it but I have the same problem as Pixel - the scrolling from right to left is driving me nuts and giving me a headache. I'm using Safari on a Mac - does that have anything to do with it?

It's a smart design I think. I'm terrible with change I've realised

paddington - try f5, or Shift+f5, or possibly ctrl+f5 - it may sort your intrusive ad problem

The main thing I don't like now is the truncated thread titles.
Oh, and when the ads are on the right hand side I sometimes get a big space, and have to scroll down to see the messages!
Other than that, I'm getting used to it.

I don't like the fact I can't see what topic each thread in from in active convo's without getting my magnifying glass out. Too titchy!

It looks harder to navigate round to me too. But then I hate change in any form.

why can't I read a line of text without having to use my horizontal scroll bar to read whats at the end? dead annoying

I think if you're great with a pc you could tweak about and get the new MN just right, but lots of us are crap on the pc and are struggling

I think its fine. I'd like to hide some topics though and I don't seem to be able to. I'm sure its been discussed and a solution found, but I'm damned if I can find it!

It all still looks bunched up to me when I read a thread like this although the Active Convos page looks nice and clean.

And the end disappears off to the RHS if I have my bookmarks.

I use Firefox.

TBH I'm too short of time to learn how to fix it so my mumsnetting has been pretty much non-existent over the past couple of days and is likely to remain so for a while now I can't quickly see what I want, iyswim.

Pixel - are you on IE or Firefox? (or something else?)

I really like it now I've got used to it. The text in each post was all bunched up at first but now I've un-bunched it I think it looks good and the site as a whole is far more navigable

I really need it to be darker, and then I can cope with it. It's very pale and there are acres of white space with these new margins, which means I can't stay on it for more than fifteen minutes or so.

Loving it totally, it's beautiful and calming. Although I couldn't stick the un-classic format I'm afraid, so am back on the older one.

Perhaps it will make the papers, like when facebook changed.

I like it it looks much better on the iPod than before
