This Morning want a couple of Mumsnetters to appear with Carrie and Justine next week... anyone fancy it?

ITV's This Morning programme have invited me and Justine on to talk about the Toddlers book and want to also invite a couple of Mumsnetters to talk about how they got into Mumsnet and what Mumsnet means to them etc.

The date will probably be 4th or 5th Feb, they will need us between 9.30 and 12 and are prepared to pay travel expenses.

Anyone out there interested in snuggling up on the sofa? If you are, please put a bit of blurb about yourself here - how many children you have/how old, how you got into Mumsnet and what it means to you etc - so This Morning can decide who they might fancy inviting. If you do volunteer we may have to pass your email details on to This Morning, in case they want to chat to you, so shout now if you'd rather we didn't do that.

I do know that, yes, and I was appalled at the crass and hurtful way it was started up. But that was last year and I am tired of tarring all members of that forum with the same brush, as if membership automatically supercedes all that has gone before.

I am a MNOldie as is Custy, that's just a term for posters that have been here longer than they care to admit.

Moldies is a site that was set up in secret for people who were disgruntled with this one, and invites were sent out to those considered worthy to join, also in secret. But I expect you know that.

Guys, guys, guys - enough already. We don't count posts here, we don't rank posters, we do not have a table of who counts as a "real" Mumsnetter and who doesn't. This would be anti the spirit of MN in our view.

On MN anyone who who joins is a Mumsnetter and all are equal (save for hughjarss).

The Telly just want someone to explain why they use MN and why it's important to them, they are not looking for the embodiment of the perfect Mumsnetter, and nor should we (IOVHO).

Well we'll have to agree to disagree - I tend to look to quality rather than quantity for postings tbh. I could be wrong but it seems that a lot of Moldies wanted their site in addition to MN, not as a replacement (although I accept that for some it was most definitely a replacement). I don't think that makes their views on MN any less valid.

I'm not sure you could go on about how brilliant Mumsnet is, if you post much more on another site that is as controversial as the mouldie site is.

If I left Mumsnet to post on Netmums, but still popped in occasionally, I wouldn't expect to be called upon to sing the praises of Mumsnet, I'd feel like a hypocrite. Some people have left Mumsnet for whatever reasons, they chose to do that, now Mumsnet has other people who have taken their places and they should be given the change to speak on our behalf.

That's not what I'm saying - You're Mumsnet to me, as is Custy but Marina and Bundle are as well. To discount them just because they're also Moldies is wrong IMO.
