I know we've established these weren't the cases here but, just think that on a more general point this whole troll accusing mentality has got rather warped?

I think PPh outing of JF had afffected her judgment here, she stated in her first attack thread that her sense for trolls was 'legendary'.

Her attitude to REv really didn't seem rational at all, she was believing her own hype, I think she thought she was an expert on troll spotting!

The JF is simply a way of showing that a poster who seems really genuine and helpful can be bogus. And that's why people sometimes have suspicions. As I understand Justine, the dropping the 'Rev' thing is a different issue - to do with not being an 'officially appointed minister to MN'.

The fact that the JF episode was mishandled doesn't mean that this should be mishandled because of that. Nor does it mean that pph shouldn't follow proper procedures this time given that now MNHQ are happy to investigate (they were not on that previous occasion until a thorough and public witchhunt had occurred).

Someone has concerns about a poster, then there is a red exclamation mark making it really easy to report. No need for public cries of "fake" or whatever.

tortoiseshell, isn't the key thing that having checked the rev's credentials and found them accurate, she is neverhteless being asked to change her name? she IS actually a rev, there is no misrepresentation.

I disagree that you would only need to read Rev's posts. JF's were highly plausible (and vigorously defended) to non legal-types. Hence the length of the deception.

But scummy, Justabout says she's still going to be doing the reluctant worshippers thread. And why the hell not really? Lots of people use MN to spread their word, whatever that might be. Hunker for example is more evangelical about her thing than Justabout ever was IMO. And again, why the hell not? You want a secular site? What else is it?

And another where she flounced - read particularly the post "Have to say BTW I only come on the legal/money matter threads now to read your wise words I am learning so much from you and I think I can speak for loads and loads of MNers who really appriciate (?) who much time and effort you go to on behalf of them. shortly thereafter a poster named fuckitgoblin appeared on those threads defending moldies, so i assumed that it wasn't a coincidence.

But if anyone had bothered to read Rev's posts you'd know she was nothing like JF. Perhaps a better idea than shouting 'Fake!' at her.

Here is an example of a Judge Flounce thread - under the name of W&R - obviously his posts are deleted, but you can see there is no questioning of the seemingly plausible advice here.
