Re the names issue - it's when someone becomes perceived as the MN house that I think we need to look at names.

A long time ago we were host to a poster called JudgeFlounce who pretended to be a Welsh female barrister and liberally dispensed legal advice. So much so that folks would call for JudgeFlounce to coem and help them out with their legal problems. He turned out to be a psychiatrist.

I think all those who remember him will perhaps have more understanding of where we're coming from?

Incidentally it was PPH iirr who uncovered JudgeFlounce so maybe that explains something too.

There is a line obviously - depends on your definition of persistent I suppose - in general we always give a warning to folk before banning them for breaking the rules (unless they're obvious maniacs that is).

yeah, but once i'm lurking, it's hard not to post too ... and I had said that I was going to leave :-)

Anyway, language is fungible - I didn't realise until recently that "scuttling" was chatting in mumsnet - to me, scuttling is associated with little bugs moving underfoot.

This is my favourite bit:

I think it's a good thing that people asked mumsnet about justabout's credentials - those that did it quietly, and sensibly, at least. MNHQ can't appoint "experts" and whilst I don't think the "rev" prefix was doing any harm, it's ended up being a distraction as much as anything.

Let's not get too far away from one fact in seeking to protect/support justabout. There are a lot of vulnerable people on this forum and the last thing that's needed is people swanning in taking advantage of them. Justabout has not done this, but that's not to say that someone else might not. Mumsnet were completely within their rights to request information, and more to the point, were correct too.

That my wife is legit does not mean that the next person is not a dangerous nutter ...

Oh, balls. Still v disappointed here.

I hear the 'subtle' bits, but still think you've abrogated your responsibility.

Well Enid has admitted RECKLESSLY (ie. she had no idea whether she was right or not) accusing the Rev of
a. lying about her professional credentials
b. lying about whether she had relatives who were murdered in the holocaust
c. lying about the existence of her husband.

This is the second time that she's attacked the Rev along the same lines.

Why - why- aren't you banning her?

I'm sorry Justine - this isn't right.

...... and another thing as i ranted on those mouldiegate threads, what i really hate are those posters who wade in on here like old hands (and often state they are such) who are namechanging mouldies who havent the balls manners to retain thier old posting names...... are you new "wartybosoms"?? (by way of example)
