just wondering, as i can't find it.

OP posts:

That works fine with 4 friends, ClashingFriends but with 143 or whatever, someone is going to let the cat out of the bag sooner or later and that's when the trouble starts.

ClashingFriends · 06/01/2009 17:46

Thomcat - fwiw I agree with you completely. I have friends who although the 4 of us get on well together, I am closer to 1 of them than the other 2 and she is to me. It would hurt the others feelings if they knew that there were times she wanted to see me without the others as we all started out at baby group together. Sometimes saying nothing is the kindest option.

ClarissimoUsedToBePeachy · 06/01/2009 17:42

You know the one little thing that does bug me about this? that if you're not being anti moldies some people still seem to want (or expect?) you to be and read your psots thus.

I undestand the 'moldies' being a bit defensive (in terms of expecting to be attacked) but there 's some real calming down of positins needed perhaps? Build those bridges and off we tripp trapp trot

BecauseImWorthIt · 06/01/2009 17:34

Perhaps we need a private room to discuss it, Flight?

Lulumama · 06/01/2009 17:32

thanks freaky, i really have got a handle on this thread now

not

algernon?

nope, will have to read the thread

Flightattendant7 · 06/01/2009 17:30

I see what you mean BIWI.

I just feel that a lot of people are not being horrid, (althoug haven;t read much of today's) and will still want to discuss. Otherwise it just seems the alternative is that it is the big elephant in the corner that nobody's allowed to mention? I understand it;s a difficult call but a blanket ban can't be the answer surely. It just looks wrong, to me.

allnewcontrolfreaky · 06/01/2009 17:30

well, lulu..... sunday night ended on a good note, with discussion of heat pads for rabbits...... since then we have had daddyj preaching peace and reconciliation alongside a rousing call for more "leadership" to broker a peace deal..... in depth discussion of propriety of comparing mouldies with restricted access sn board (non mouldies say ridiculous, mouldies say is no different).... some lovely baby pictures.... some vociferous namechangers (some of whom deny being name changers... some of whom first deny and then accept they are namechangers) who are keen to defend the mouldies good name and all their actions..... a fair bit of random "getoveryourselves... rhubarb posting about the "golf club type exclusivity" (my words) of mouldies and prufrock responding with a scenario involve bob from the pub and his overfamiliar friend algy .... err, and justine saying..... things....

DaddyJ · 06/01/2009 17:30

Ah, you were away on hols!
Apologies..I understand the radio silence now
and take back some of my criticism.

Crikey, this thread is going to hit 1000
before I am finishing catching up!

SaintGeorge · 06/01/2009 17:26

And again can I please point out that Moldies has nothing to do with the Yahoo GF group.

BecauseImWorthIt · 06/01/2009 17:26

I sort of agree, Flight - but what more is there to say, really? All that's happened today has been a lot of stuff that's been getting more and more unpleasant - and more and more specific about Rhubarb and Custy, which is surely not a good thing?

Flightattendant7 · 06/01/2009 17:23

Its ok lu.

I am only concerned now that if we're discouraged from posting about it it doesn't make the feelings go away. I disagree that it isn't helping anyone.
There is a great deal of analysis (self and each other) going on and if the threads had stopped at a certain point last week I don't think I would have reached closure in the same way.

I don't think you can just pretend it didn'[t happen, HQ. I know you want everyone to be nice but surely it's not possible to make us all happy all the time? As long as personal attacks and such get blasted then your job is done.

Lulumama · 06/01/2009 17:19

thanks flight, saw some stuff about teh SN boards, and did not have time to read through it all, so was hoping for a quick summary !

CoteDAzur · 06/01/2009 17:18

I think it's very bizarre that anyone would want a forum where nobody would clash.

stillstanding · 06/01/2009 17:17

(Definitely look at pag's children - they are gorgeous!)

tortoiseshellWasMusicaYearsAgo · 06/01/2009 17:17

(sorry justine, really will sit on hands now)

Flightattendant7 · 06/01/2009 17:16

Oh Lulu I wish I could help but have only read Pru's and Justine's since this morning, when I stopped reading every post

I was soo tired, had read everything up till then!

Oh I also looked at Pag's children who are highly attractive

If I were you I'd do the same. Most other stuff was probably much about SN boards (which I kno nothing about) and other things being resaid. But not totally sure about that as haven't read it...

Controlfreaky - can you summarise for Lulu instead?

tortoiseshellWasMusicaYearsAgo · 06/01/2009 17:15

Can I add something before this thread hits 1000? If we're on to analogies, this would be mine.

A large group of friends exists. Within that group, some people inevitably rub some others up the wrong way. Just the way life is really - some people you click with, others you don't. And some have major disagreements/arguments every time they meet.

A dinner party is organised. In the interests of having a small, more intimate chat than the loud, busy chat they normally have, only a certain number are invited. Someone says - hey why don't we invite person A. As it happens, every time person A meets person C they have a violent disagreement, and it's very unpleasant for everyone. So person C says 'well, ok, but I will have to not come in that case.' At which point everyone says 'no, no, you're here, you're coming, we'll leave it as it is.'

Clearly, the friends can't say to person A 'we're having a dinner party, you're not invited, but want you to know'. But person A finds out. And says person B who is at the dinner party 'Either you don't go to the dinner party, or I won't be friends with you any more.' Forgetting that she can still see those friends at her own dinner party, or at toddlers, or at another friend's house, or at the place where they always used to meet. And forgetting also that perhaps sometimes they have had problems with person C.

It's not a perfect analogy, but it's kind of the way I see it - not everyone gets along with everyone else, and in a small group of people, some sort of membership selection is bound to exist. And just because person A is friends with person B, doesn't mean they can't be friends with person C, even if person A doesn't get along with person C at all.

I'm sure you will all pull this post to pieces, and tell me I'm patronising and to f-off (which is what happened last time I posted), but it's my clumsy attempt to explain my thinking on this.

Lulumama · 06/01/2009 17:15

no no , i have been reading the threads and commenting, i really would not tell anyone to get over it, initially i was extremely hurt by the whole thing etc etc etc. but i have not got time to keep reading all the threads , so was after a brief synopsis of the latter part of this thread.

JustinExcelsisMumsnet · 06/01/2009 17:14

Yes I did BigGitDad - and very nice of you it was too. Thank you.

BigGitDad · 06/01/2009 17:12

Justine did you get my e mail to you a week or two ago? Carrie answered it on your behalf but just wondered if you did read it.

ClarissimoUsedToBePeachy · 06/01/2009 17:12

TBH though would anyone much have wanted to join had it not seemed so eltitist? I think thats at least part of the issue. If you make something a secret then you up its percreived impotance / interst levels massively.

Pooka I was on the original GF list and not invited but hey ho.

allnewcontrolfreaky · 06/01/2009 17:12

oops. sorry.... you were after flight's view. ignore me...

allnewcontrolfreaky · 06/01/2009 17:11

prob if you can bear it lulu.... for the full appreciation of current feeling.... otherwise you might just (understandably perhaps) post along the lines of enoughalreadygetoverit..... without appreciating that some people would prefer to talk about it if they so wish....

Lulumama · 06/01/2009 17:07

flight, do i need to read the last few hundred posts, or not? brief synopsis would be good if poss.

ta very much !

Flightattendant7 · 06/01/2009 17:05

Gosh and crikey.
Point five could start it all over again, no?
