If you (still) feel the need to discuss Moldies, please do it here so folks can hide this if they want to.

Well hopefully the title says it all. There's been a suggestion, and we agree, that as we did with Baby P and the Mc Canns we just have one thread where anyone who feels they still have anything to add on this subject can post and those who'd rather move on can hide it away.

It feels strange to put this thread in site stuff as we are definitely not wanting to encourage further discussion of Moldies (we have presents to wrap too you know ) but we weren't sure where else to put it.

We will delete any new Moldies threads that are started, so please feel free to report them in case we miss any (what with wrapping the presents and all...)

And if you do want to carry on the discussion please remember that Mumsnet's here to make everyone's lives easier and not the reverse, and that Christmas is a time of goodwill to all mumsnetters past, present and future

Thanks,
MNHQ

i cant have crabs, they would need something to cling onto

aside from the fact i am not that slack with my sexual health of course ....

lou33 · 28/12/2008 23:57

my mind os on overdrive after desis remark

Freckle · 28/12/2008 23:55

Oooh, a seafood thread. How refreshing.

Desiderata · 28/12/2008 23:54

If you have crabs, Lou, then I have lobsters.

Freckle · 28/12/2008 23:53

Well, I didn't know about it, so it's entirely conceivable that I don't know about a number of other boards. But I'm not going to get my knickers in a twist about it. As long as I'm happy with what MN has to offer, it doesn't really matter does it?

ruty · 28/12/2008 23:53

arf at lou.

Quadrophenia · 28/12/2008 23:53

bleurgghh that reads like the drunken rambling it is, but seriously isn't it highly unlikely that someone would a) read the article in the first place b) think ohh I wonder if so and so posts there c) do an extensove search to try and find out if yoyu are actually on here...it isn't easy and would take too much time and energy

TWINSETofbigfatcocks · 28/12/2008 23:52

Quad I am fascinating.

I think there are a few people who need to think carefully, I have been in that situation. Now as a teacher in a very straightlaced school I am not sure if I am.

lou33 · 28/12/2008 23:51

i wouldnt mind a private forum right now to discuss why i suddenly have that itchy regrowth factor after shaving, when i never normally do

or maybe i just have crabs?

or could it be connected to my red wine trauma?

Quadrophenia · 28/12/2008 23:50

right lets all stop

take stock for a minute

why would anyone come on MN and try and decipher who you are etc it has happened on only a couple of occasions and in cods case by someone who posted incredibly extensively and was idetifiable by much more than her name.
Are we all that interesting that people would spend lots of time trying to find out who we are? Honestly guys please don't worry too much unless you alreradfy post here the chances are folks are not as addicted to the www as we are.

goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 28/12/2008 23:50

oh the private SN board has been around for ages.

I think it was set up at around the same time that you had to select to see SN Thread titles in Active Convo's, rather than select to not have it (if that makes sense?)

Freckle · 28/12/2008 23:48

Wellie, some may have already taken their chat elsewhere. How do we know that there aren't any number of discussion boards already? We know about Moldies, but only by mistake it would appear. We've no way of knowing if there are any other ones. There is, I discovered recently, a private SN board. Who's to say if other boards have been created for a variety of reasons.

Quadrophenia · 28/12/2008 23:47

oh no Lou you will just have to keep trying with the rose...honestly a few bottles and you will be fine
that is pants though

onebatmotherofgoditschilly · 28/12/2008 23:45

My honest opinion: unless you are in a very difficult RL situation or are famous or would be VERY professionally embarrassed (ie are in govt) then I think its pretty hard to find you. I just did it on someone whom I already know, and came up with bu'er all.

(Anyone who read their mother's early 20th century novels will recognize this lovely term. It confused me for my entire ninth year. )

hunkermunker · 28/12/2008 23:44

Wasn't there something on Alphamummy about them using bits of posts or something? Can't remember what exactly - anyone?

lou33 · 28/12/2008 23:44

quad, i cant have red

Quattrocento · 28/12/2008 23:43

Nah. You're Columbo. I can tell by your outfit. Never knew he was keen on root vegetables though ...

Freckle · 28/12/2008 23:42

Bumper, it wasn't meant as a should have known better post. More a please be careful about what you disclose post.

SwedesInADirtyMacAndSunglasses · 28/12/2008 23:41

I'm actually Benny from Abba. But you all knew that.

Quattrocento · 28/12/2008 23:41

Stockholm is in Tokyo? You daft bat

Bumperlicious · 28/12/2008 23:40

Nothing like being kicked when your down. I always love a "well you should have known better post".

Night all.

Freckle · 28/12/2008 23:40

Thank goodness for another voice of reason. Mumsnet is totally public. Why publishing what one might or might not have said in another public organ engenders such angst and paranoia is puzzling. If someone wants to do some sleuthing and work out who a poster is, they can do it quite well without the Indie giving them a nudge.

welliemum · 28/12/2008 23:39

And to me, the only wonder about posters taking their chats to a private board is that it didn't happen years ago.

onebatmotherofgoditschilly · 28/12/2008 23:39

a brief google confirms that Stockholm is indeed a city of Swedes>

Bumperlicious · 28/12/2008 23:38

I'm going to do what Onebat said about nicknames too. Right, I really am off to bed. I already waste enough of my life on here and look what happens. That'll learn me.
