If you (still) feel the need to discuss Moldies, please do it here so folks can hide this if they want to.

Well hopefully the title says it all. There's been a suggestion, and we agree, that as we did with Baby P and the Mc Canns we just have one thread where anyone who feels they still have anything to add on this subject can post and those who'd rather move on can hide it away.

It feels strange to put this thread in site stuff as we are definitely not wanting to encourage further discussion of Moldies (we have presents to wrap too you know ) but we weren't sure where else to put it.

We will delete any new Moldies threads that are started, so please feel free to report them in case we miss any (what with wrapping the presents and all...)

And if you do want to carry on the discussion please remember that Mumsnet's here to make everyone's lives easier and not the reverse, and that Christmas is a time of goodwill to all mumsnetters past, present and future

Thanks,
MNHQ

Well cocktails are a bit over, it became lunch for a bit, should think it'll go onto midafternoon snack shortly

MumofBaby · 29/12/2008 13:37

Aitch are you a moldie? I'm so confused.

LucyJones · 29/12/2008 13:37

sorry just realised Hunker made the same point

ChristmasFairySantAsSLut · 29/12/2008 13:37

I must have missed like lots and lots and lots...because....I don't get this...what was there to be upset about, who was upset with whom and well...what the feck is everyone on about...

[confused emoticon]
and yes, if I had lots of time, I might just would read 1500+ posts....but...right now I haven't sigh....

pooka · 29/12/2008 13:37

good point lucy jones!

hunkermunker · 29/12/2008 13:37

"If you (still) feel the need to discuss Moldies, please do it here so folks can hide this if they want to."

If you post about airing cupboards and cocktails on here, you're denying MNers who've hidden the thread already the benefit of your wisdom, aren't you?

StealthPoHoHoHo · 29/12/2008 13:37

Thread content varies according to people's mood etc

Colbeck · 29/12/2008 13:37

umm...err....no where???

I must have just got the general impression that you'd rather all the moldie discussion abated.

Apologies, it was really just a blatant plug for my other thread.

LucyJones · 29/12/2008 13:36

pooka - why not do all that on another thread though, surely this is the thread for posters such as ChristmasFairySantAsSLut to ask questions on, not for chat about cocktails

MumofBaby · 29/12/2008 13:36

So how many moldies are there? Loads? Or three or four?

It is a little snobbish is it not?

I'm desperate to know if MNHQ condone it or started it or think it's ridiculous?

Aitch · 29/12/2008 13:36

actually, daftpunk, at this stage i think that people are determined to grind their axes in a way that makes me fear for their sanity. their happiness is neither here nor there at this stage.

frasersmummy · 29/12/2008 13:36

What really annoys me is that there are soo many issues and problems discussed all over mn and its this crap that makes the papers

There are things discussed on here that people in gneral dont know go on in life until it happens to them or someone they know. Things that with the right publicity might get some public/govt action taken

We should be uniting together to make this point to the paper

hunkermunker · 29/12/2008 13:36

Why are people talking about cocktails on this thread?

NorthernLurker · 29/12/2008 13:35

Oooh yes - airing cupboards.

D'you think I should get some tartan paint to do the inside of mine? Would they have some at Cath Kidston?

LucyJones · 29/12/2008 13:35

ChristmasFairySantAsSLut - MNoldies is a separate forum which is invite only

LucyJones · 29/12/2008 13:34

I think it's fairly apparent that things will get riled up on this thread but not the rest of the board thank god

StealthPoHoHoHo · 29/12/2008 13:34

Just checking! When you said "were from me" I thought you meant you had submitted them for use in an article they may want to write

ChristmasFairySantAsSLut · 29/12/2008 13:34

hmm...but what exactly are moldies...mumsnet oldies?

And if so, when are you one of those...
and surely not just mumsnet oldies are people with older children?

Why is there such a need to make a distinction between members....
oh, it's politics innit...it's one of teh many things I just don't get...lol

pooka · 29/12/2008 13:33

The thing is that is twice now that the posters here have been idly chatting (firstly about cocktails and then earlier today, pasta sandwiches and airing cupboards) and vvvqv has popped along to berate the vileness of the thread or somesuch thing.

Everything calmed down, people having innocent non-combative chat, and vvvqv turns up like red adair to put out the flames of vileness. Either your timing's wonky vvvqv or you're actually just trying to pick a fight.

daftpunk · 29/12/2008 13:33

aitch....did you really think this would all end happily?

hunkermunker · 29/12/2008 13:33

Colbeck, where did I say I didn't want to talk about Moldies?

StealthPoHoHoHo · 29/12/2008 13:33

And Moldies have never said it is, afaik

MumofBaby · 29/12/2008 13:32

How many Moldies are there? Does MNHQ condone it or what?

NorthernLurker · 29/12/2008 13:32

There was another thread yesterday about the newspaper piece in which a series of unpleasant things were said about revjustabout - the whole thread has been pulled. I realise many will not be aware of that as it thankfully isn't in the public domain anymore but would like to point out that this isn't only a non-moldies insulting moldies thing. There's mudslinging going on all over the place.

LucyJones · 29/12/2008 13:32

'The initial argument started after Moldies started a separate area where they could talk about issues surrounding older children. '
