Well hopefully the title says it all. There's been a suggestion, and we agree, that as we did with Baby P and the Mc Canns we just have one thread where anyone who feels they still have anything to add on this subject can post and those who'd rather move on can hide it away.

It feels strange to put this thread in site stuff as we are definitely not wanting to encourage further discussion of Moldies (we have presents to wrap too you know ) but we weren't sure where else to put it.

We will delete any new Moldies threads that are started, so please feel free to report them in case we miss any (what with wrapping the presents and all...)

And if you do want to carry on the discussion please remember that Mumsnet's here to make everyone's lives easier and not the reverse, and that Christmas is a time of goodwill to all mumsnetters past, present and future

Thanks,
MNHQ

dh;...who are they?

me;...haven't got a clue...will never meet any of them.

dh;...so why do they take up so much of your time & energy?

i just looked at him....couldn't answer that one.....maybe we all need to shut down and get on with RL

I wonder which paper will be next to 'out' this load of shite earth shattering story?

For some reason I think the Sun will put it on P3, next to lots of topless 'yummy mummies'....

hunkermunker · 29/12/2008 14:32

No, Quattro, I really wasn't. I was attempting to give people who are determined to tar all Moldies with the same brush pause for thought.

I'm off for a bit - this is getting even more twisted than ever [astonishing]

I think anyone Moldie posting on this thread will simply add fuel to the fire, actually, because people just want to have a bit of a shout about stuff without anyone saying, "Hang on a mo, that's not right/not how it happened".

So, as you were! Enjoy.

daftpunk · 29/12/2008 14:32

syb...i'm so sorry, that's very sad news

SheikYerbouti · 29/12/2008 14:31

Mmm chocolates.

DP and I worked out last night that apart from Xmas lunch, we haven't eaten a proper meal since last Monday

This is because we have been too full from eating all the crap. We had a tin of Roses for dinner over two days last week

[fat]

ClausImWorthIt · 29/12/2008 14:30

Oh, and Sheiky - very, very sorry about your friend. I have a friend who, at the age of 51, who has just been diagnosed with aggressive and invasive breast cancer.

So yes, there are other probably much more important things going on.

But it doesn't stop me from being hurt.

Quattrocento · 29/12/2008 14:29

hunker, Moldies are people you know. Like MNers. There will be clever people and dumb people and kind people and snide people in Moldies, just as there are on MN.

You're claiming that all Moldies are lovely which is just as fatuous as claiming that all Moldies are horrible.

ClausImWorthIt · 29/12/2008 14:28

By VVVQ:

"Yes, the ones who were gracious, kind, and lacking in self-indulgence got an apology"

I'm sorry. I am really trying to walk away from this thing, and posted light heartedly about not being sent an apology (or asked to join Moldies or the Daughters of Mediocrity), but this kind of post is just so inflammatory.

The inference, VVVQ, is tht somehow I have, during this whole debacle, been ungracious, unkind and self-indulgent.

Well, I'm sorry if this whole thing hurt me. Perhaps that was a tad self-indulgent, although one can't always help being hurt by things. But I certainly haven't been ungracious or unkind and I resent this accusation.

Now, rant over. I'm off to have a coffee and open (yet another) box of chocolates.

hunkermunker · 29/12/2008 14:25

Am happy to let people pissed off.

Not happy with the personal attacks, especially on people who aren't here to defend themselves.

And also not happy at the "you're all snide, unpleasant and bitchy" stuff either - think about some of the people you know to be Moldies and then ask yourself if it WAS snide, unpleasant and bitchy, would they be involved in it? And I'm clearly not including myself in that, since I know at least a dozen of you loathe me

ilovelovemydog · 29/12/2008 14:25

The irony being that it's been made very public thus justifying the need for a private forum!

Deja vu all over again....

SheikYerbouti · 29/12/2008 14:24

NMC - hope things improve for your DD today.

Is the bomb scare in Brizzle then?

NorthernLurker · 29/12/2008 14:23

JV - that's exactly how I feel about it.

NMC - hope you get hold of your ds soon.

BBBee · 29/12/2008 14:23

good post JV

Flihgtattendant · 29/12/2008 14:22

Ooh I think I am in the papers! I didn't get named but I think I might have been 'the one who cried'

Golly

needmorecoffee · 29/12/2008 14:21

waiting for doc who is bloody lost. and now calling ds frantically but he's not answering his mobile. Why have a bloody mobile ifn you don't answer it! Teenagers!

JeremyVile · 29/12/2008 14:21

Just let people be pissed off.
The moldies thing has happened and of course was going to upset people - the decision to pretty much recreate mumsnet but without the posters- so just let people moan and pore over the finer points and debate as long as they feel likeit. It wont last that long, it's not that interesting.
But to keep coming back to defend it or to belittle the feelings of those who have been offended is what keeps renewing the anger.
Surely you can all see that?
You've got what you wanted - a seperate place thats private. If other people want to express their pissed-offedness about the consequences of that then let them (of course feel free to challenge personal attacks but from what I can see that is very much two way traffic with only one side having chosen to set this whole thing off in the first place). You cant have it all.

NorthernLurker · 29/12/2008 14:20

nmc - sorry to hear that - how is your dd now?

needmorecoffee · 29/12/2008 14:19

what! ds1 has just gone down there!

ilovelovemydog · 29/12/2008 14:18

LOL @ nmc... have you heard about a bomb scare in city center?

needmorecoffee · 29/12/2008 14:17

sheik, sorry about your friend. I am aware there's some shit out there. Got some going on myself with dd having a massive seizure last night. Least mumsnet and this spat take my mind off it. Some fluff in a not nice and shitty world.

SheikYerbouti · 29/12/2008 14:17

Thanks guys.

I don't want to turn this into a sympathy-fest, I just want everyone to remember that this has gone on long enough and that there are people suffering from some pretty serious shit right now, while we have been involved in the circular argument for the last 10 days.

misdee · 29/12/2008 14:17

well i am weaning myself off mn. uits been a while coming. i wont de-reg as would like to dip in and out. this whole thing has made me feel things i shouldnt over a website iyswim.

Colbeck · 29/12/2008 14:17

Seriously, if you don't want to be tarred with the moldie brush, go and post on baby names and sleep and long haul travel, they havent even heard of you or moldies there and will just chat away to you.

If you don't want everyone to point and scream 'MOLDIE!', just get off the moldie thread. It would be a good start.

needmorecoffee · 29/12/2008 14:15

I dint get invited. but thats cos I reckon its not wheelchair accessible
