Ok, though I may not be 'qualified' to make a comment on this and have certainly not followed this whole thing through from beginning to end, one thing occurs to me.

A couple of years ago a row blew up on MN because mothers of children with SN felt that they needed a private group to post on, because of insensitive comments directed at them here. I think there was a suggeston that the SN board should somehow be more private although I don't remember exact details.

I distinctly remember some people (who are now trying to defend the idea of a moldie board) strongly objecting to this at the time...

I am thinking about some of those people - that's why I still feel sad about the whole sorry mess. It just goes to show that you really don't know anything at all about people you have only met online.

mumofbaby, you've only been on MN for a few days so it was unlikely you would have heard of moldies as the row started, as sheik says, 10 days ago. It is, as noted above, a separate website and nothing to do with MNHQ so their condoning of it, or otherwise, isn't really an issue.

HM, I think the "people who aren't here to defend themselves" thing doesn't stand up too well. Nothing to stop said posters coming back and dealing with such comments directly if they can be bothered.

There is a whole extra set of issues to do with what is written on the private Moldies board as you know, which means that all sorts of personal attacks can be made with no reciprocal opportunity for redress.

Sadly, I don't have your warm feeling about the attitudes of some (a minority clearly) of the other Moldies.
