Well hopefully the title says it all. There's been a suggestion, and we agree, that as we did with Baby P and the Mc Canns we just have one thread where anyone who feels they still have anything to add on this subject can post and those who'd rather move on can hide it away.

It feels strange to put this thread in site stuff as we are definitely not wanting to encourage further discussion of Moldies (we have presents to wrap too you know ) but we weren't sure where else to put it.

We will delete any new Moldies threads that are started, so please feel free to report them in case we miss any (what with wrapping the presents and all...)

And if you do want to carry on the discussion please remember that Mumsnet's here to make everyone's lives easier and not the reverse, and that Christmas is a time of goodwill to all mumsnetters past, present and future

So it appears that one moldie was expecting a heartfelt announcement from MNHQ expressing deep sadness that their wittiest most intelligent posters had crossed to the other side.

I'm sure most of us hadn't even noticed that they had left.

It's probably still very uncomfortable for them too - many of them will have their own discomforts about all of this too, and then your hurts on top. Add a pinch of self-denial and everyone feels like victims :-)

I can't see that opening the floodgates at the moment would do either site too much good. Having a single thread here at least gives a forum for the pressures to be gently released on both sides.

And yes, the idea that "they" could be talking quietly and confidentially behind "our" backs is uncomfortable. As is the suspicion that there an element of revenge in the SIndie article / the deleted thread yesterday. I think "we" need to be big enough to acknowledge that paranoia is neither big nor pretty and something we should try to overcome.

You know I bet those moldies are loving all this.... nearly 2000 messages all about them. I bet they are sitting on their site absolutely lapping it up, letting their over-inflated egos increase even more.

It is snide all this, its like being back at school and not being invited to the "cool" party... no one would have minded if they had just fucked off, done their own thing and let it go, but no, they had to drop hints, rub people's noses' in it and boost their egos.

Pityful. Really it is. I think the best thing we could all do, is forget about this, forget about them, and start the new year afresh. Make mumsnet great again. Think about all the people that have benefitted from the xmas appeal, all those who have been helped in their darkest hour. Think of all the people you have given advice to over the past year on here - it doesnt matter whether it was feeding/sleeping/fashion/holidays whatever. Thats what MN is about, and we should all feel proud to be part of it.

Lest not forget Justine/Geraldine/Rachel/et all who have worked tirelessly to keep MN up and running, espeoially over the past week - I've never seen so many deleted posts

Merry xmas MN'ers and here's to a wonderful new year
