why can't i hide mumsnet local threads?

i have my mn set up so that the hide button is at the side of each thread therefore i dont have to open it

however it will not let me hide local threads

an there it stays unmoving and unchanging at the top of my screen - shit i will not answer, doesn't apply to me, shit i have no opinion on and couldn't care less about

haunts me with every refresh of the page

They keep new posts in MN Local there at the top of active convos for an hour or so. It will disappear in time.

I have to open them to hide them, which I do, and then they reappear a few days later.
