Censorship - Why are the Steiner threads being deleted and everyone being banned?

Forever, not sure what link you're referring to as mumsnet are deleting any that are reported to them, whatever they say it seems.

we talk about free speech, but really there are consequences to things that are possibly libellous or could lead to legal action. mumsnet is a business, and has to protect itself from potentially being finished by a costly legal action , which almost did happen.

i think MNHQ have been perfectly fair and let this go on for a loooong time. but there comes a point where the risks of what is being said - risks to peoples livelihoods in essence, outweigh the benefits of unrestrained , debate

so is steiner/waldor/anthroposophy now a taboo subject on MN?

Northernref have been reading the link you put on here, and it is really quite disturbing, so much I can relate to, and I shall continue to read more. I was involved in Anthroposophical nursing, don't wish to say much more than that. At the time, we used to laugh so much and think these people were 'away with the fairies' with their cranky ideas, and used to joke that it was a cult, but having read some of the stuff, I think it is more sinister than that.

If mumsnet are receiving emails from sweden from someone threatening them with percy bratt, I understand why they're forced to adopt this stance.
It really saddens me that free speech is being stopped like this, with threats; the threats imply that what's being debated is near the bone, or they wouldn't go to such lengths.

Unfortunately, individuals against large organistations are hard pressed; you have to have money to fight as an individual.

Good call Justine. Anyone who remembers the time, effort and drama associated with the last public legal action threatened against mumsnet will find your stance completely understandable I think.
