PIP is not means tested, so you're either getting confused with UC, which does have a savings limit, or you're lacking information in which case you should check before posting.

It is. The version for children, DLA. Dave would have been entitled to a free cinema pass, a blue badge and a motability car on behalf of his son.

If you believe that Labour "rewards the workshy", could you tell me a) whether you are confident that there were never any fake claims for PIP when the Tories were in power, and b) why you think the proportion of new claims that are successful has been steadily dropping under Labour, and how this downward trend supports their alleged attempts to "reward the workshy"?

It does make me laugh how the benefit bashers and haters know so much about all their neighbours and acquaintances finances, (and extended family members,) and exactly what benefits they receive. And how pretty much most of them are 'faking it' and have nothing wrong with them. 😆

No-one is telling anyone how much benefits, universal credit, or PIP they are getting, and they are definitely not telling them why they're getting it.

First of all, I'd like to make it clear I don't have ADHD (well not diagnosed anyway!). So I have no skin in the game as far as that's concerned.

I do now get Pip after I became disabled, it's a physical disability. not that it should matter, but it seems to to you so I just wanted to be clear..

The statistics for the claimant with ADHD are very skewed because you have one main 'category' (that's not quite the right word, but I can't think what else to call it. People who are successful getting PIP, will not just have ADHD, they will have several other issues limiting their ability to cope or function in the same way as someone that doesn't have any of those things.

PIP is awarded on impact of the disability, it is not awarded on a diagnosis.

I am totally sure that a small, very small percentage of people somehow cheat the system, but that is a tiny amount, and anyone that tells you it is easy to get has not been through the system.

Yes I can accept there is the odd idiot that boasts about fiddling PIP or whatever. But it is very intriguing how every MN benefit basher knows one of these idiots.

What I found interesting is that PIP is designed to help people cope with the extra costs of their disability. We all understand that for some people this might be a carer, a cleaner, or a mobility scooter etc. But several times I have heard that for people with ADHD, or anxiety, the extra cost is 'taxis, as public transport may be difficult'. I've never actually heard another example - keen to hear them with an open mind.

Yes that is curious. I certainly don’t know of anyone who boasts about fiddling the system to obtain PIP! Both my DD1 (17) and my DB (58) claim it and it was a tough process to get there.

I know of several other genuine claimants too.

Which brings us back round to the consistency of deletions. Is telling somebody to grow up a personal attack? It's hard to keep up. Two posters have said it. Have they both been deleted?

I have adhd but I don't claim PIP because I don't need it. PIP isn't awarded because of a specific diagnosis but because of the particular difficulties that each individual is facing. I know a lot of people with adhd and very few of them actually claim.

ADHD costs me a bloody fortune though. I am lucky enough to be a high earner and so I can suck it up, but there are undoubtedly extra costs.
