Can we have a Wanker's Corner?

Hello.

It's been noted in the past that there are some pretentious wankers amongst us who like to discuss some general subjects (eg.Porn, Religion) in a fairly, erm.. academic manner, and that this sometimes seems to intimidate and/or infuriate other posters.

There doesn't seem to be an easy solution to this problem: there's no doubt that people really do feel intimidated and that it might prevent them from posting on a subject that concerns them. It also must feel hijack-y at times.

At the same time, it's hard for the Wanker's to be told that they mustn't post anything that might intimidate.

Would it be possible to have a special place, with very hard chairs to keep us awake, that we may call our own?

Aha but how did you clock Old English? 'unraed' is a pub-quiz question

though annoyingly you're right.

Habbibu - are you a science graduate?

Habbibu · 27/06/2008 22:11

Don't think that many places teach much in the way of Old English on a lit course, and I have you bracketed as a proper lit graduate. The list is not terribly narrow as yet, mind. Will have to stalk you some more.

onebatmother · 27/06/2008 22:09

Why thank you Swedes but very very small.

Ooh ooh Habbibu how are you narrowing it down?

OP posts:
Swedes · 27/06/2008 22:04

Onebat - Your house is lovely.

Habbibu · 27/06/2008 22:04

hmm - narrowing down list of educational establishments onebat could have attended...

onebatmother · 27/06/2008 22:03

fuck I did know that, God wot.

Habbibu · 27/06/2008 22:01

Oh, now now, wanker. Unraed - ill-advised. Do I have to kick you out of your own corner? Do I?
(would join in the medieval Boden pastiche-ing but my medieval knowledge sadly far outstrips my knowledge of the Boden catalogue)

Ethelred: worst fault: Unready.
Ethelred wears summerstripe tabard with chainmail tapered boot.

Jonnie wears a snood and links combo with hotchpotch elbow detail.

Habbibu - Johnnie Boden: Favourite Battle - Hastings.

onebatmother · 27/06/2008 21:50

I think if we get the offer we need in the next 10 days it might be possible. But actually I think things are barely moving round here and we are definitely at the top of the market.

snoop away.

Swedes you are allowed to mock btw. Do I remember that you've already mocked my modernist furniture on a previous thread?

OP posts:
Swedes · 27/06/2008 21:45

God that is a bummer. Can you salvage the deal?

Threadwworm · 27/06/2008 21:41

Sorry to hear that onebat. Bummer.

onebatmother · 27/06/2008 21:37

ah, MI, we've been expecting you..

Actually Swedes, we thought we've found a wreck that was not really on the marked and underpriced (only way that we can do it) but in fact they've just pulled out. I had to tell vile property developer we had a buyer lined up in order to get them not to auction it, we agreed 8 weeks to exchange for an extra 5K (would have been totally doable even last month)but they've discovered I was um, exaggerating. Am gutted. Serves me right but I did feel as though I had to be v erm, proactive otherwise it will never happen and I will be living in a shoe-box for ever.

With Property Lions in it?

Swedes · 27/06/2008 21:26

Onebat - If you are ascending the property ladder it is sensible to wait for the property pit of despair.

motherinferior · 27/06/2008 21:25

I am really, really good at wankery...

onebatmother · 27/06/2008 21:24

Good grief no! Not even to get into Butterflies catchment area.

We're staying where we are but hopefully in a slightly bigger hutch.

OP posts:
Swedes · 27/06/2008 21:22

Onebat - Are you moving to Chingford?

onebatmother · 27/06/2008 21:22

Jesus Swedes, do I actually know you?

OP posts:
onebatmother · 27/06/2008 21:20

yes welcome hassled, iwish and belatedly hedgewitch.

I've got to clean whole house for potential viewings by arseholes who wouldn't know a beautifully-presented character period-style property, retaining many original features, and nestling in the heart of East London's most desirable village if it jizzed on their face.

So I have to close the laptop now - but before I go, I'd like to suggest that, of Big Cook, and Little Cook, the unhappier man must be the former.

If Little Cook exists, it is surely only as the embodiment of BC's fantasy of extreme diminution - a fantasy which expressed to its fullest degree would comprise a shrinking away to nothing. It is BC, in fact, who wishes he could disappear - the only response to the symbolic and catastrophic emasculation denoted by the Blue Kerchief of which his fragmenting sanity can conceive.

DO you think Joan from Butterflies in Chingford is fact or fiction? I fear she may be fact. Onebat goes urban and edgy thanks to Joan at Butterflies, Chingford

Swedes · 27/06/2008 21:04

I'm sitting here in Joan Hunter Dunn Avenue, Harpenden, sipping my Villa Maria Sauvignon, enjoying feeling the sort of confusion that only an uber wanker can feel.
