Why are you making fun of someone's appearance with your logo change

Can I ask why you've changed the logo to be big ears to poke fun at King Charles?

I'm not a royalist but I don't think making fun of someone like this for their appearance is really fair.

Came to see if there was a thread on site stuff, it's bloody immature and really fucking rude. I'm honestly very surprised that it was not only suggested but that at no point did anyone else involved stop and say errm that's not ok and instead everyone agreed it was acceptable!

They need to be on a disciplinary warning and don’t you have any training in place about why we shouldn’t be mocking people’s physical features?

Not only is it juvenile and in poor taste, it looks crap. Poor show.

Please change the logo. It’s mean and mocking. Just the crown would have been fine.

Images like the current logo endorse the mockery of bat ears that drives parents into agreeing to this purely cosmetic procedure on behalf of children who are too young to consent themselves but will have to live with the consequences. For a parenting website, this logo is utterly tone-deaf.

Why don't MNHQ use their time to make a post rendering system that works properly instead of mocking the appearance of someone whose behaviour makes a much better target for criticism?

I’m really quite surprised they’ve done this. What is going on at MNHQ that they thought this was a clever and fun idea? There’s been a weird dynamic change.

Taking the piss out of someone’s appearance, whoever they are, is massively misreading this room. I doubt they’ll take it down though, as it’s a concession of a fuck up.

Well I for one thinks it’s fine and people should get a grip! KC is the first person to enjoy a good laugh so would likely find it funny to be featured on Mumsnet in this way.

I don't think anyone enjoys people mocking their appearance, no matter how much they like a good laugh.

The fact is King Charles's ears aren't even remarkably big! Spitting Image is to blame for that misconception, yet here we are in 2023 having the same hackneyed old gag wheeled out because MNHQ are lazy and thoughtless.

I'm also not a royalist, but I agree it's in poor taste. When did making fun of a person's appearance become acceptable? When would it be considered not acceptable? What physical attributes are deemed to be not up for mockery?

@Soontobe60 I have a squint. Would it be ok for the logo to be changed to mock him if he had a squint and if not why not? What's the difference? It's a physical appearance he can't change.
