Why are you making fun of someone's appearance with your logo change

Can I ask why you've changed the logo to be big ears to poke fun at King Charles?

I'm not a royalist but I don't think making fun of someone like this for their appearance is really fair.

@mnhq it's actually really disrespectful and amounts to bullying to pick out a personal feature like that.

I suspect people are just disappointed that people still find other peoples appearances humorous rather than feeling sorry for him or whatever else. MN pull plenty of threads that are people having valid opinions on people's actions because they're 'not in the spirit of the site' yet this is fine?

But I think it's good for there to be a plurality of opinions and mumsnet too often displays very niche echo-chamber thinking. I don't think anyone in real life outside the opportunity for a gleeful social media pile-on would take offence, least of all Charles Windsor. Worse mockery of him is seen every week in your daily paper. Mumsnet were clearly trying to be affectionate which is more offensive to me cos I'm a republican.

Give over. We all know Charles is mocked for his ears. We also know he was bullied for his ears. The logo has ears bigger than the crown. No physical features should be called out.

They're not a bad thing, but they have long been a physical characteristic people have been bullied for- nice try at faux naieveity though.

Having known several family members who were upset as children because they were teased for sticking out ears I agree: ok for eg the Times to do this, but not Mumsnet where we are focused on supporting children.

The ridiculous thing about this is Charles Windsor isn't even being mocked. The famous ears mean the logo is instantly recognisable as him, that's all.

You reckon the crown wouldn't be a big enough clue to the theme of the logo change? A crown on a logo on the day of the coronation - who on earth could it be in honour of? 🤔

Nope.

Mocking someone for physical features they can’t control is bullying.

By all means mock these people for what they do and say, cause those are choices they make. How they look is an entirely separate matter.

Everyone on this thread crying about bullying has immediately felt there's something wrong with them when there isn't. Unconscious bias and hypocrisy is rampant, especially given the number of threads on here attacking other divisive political and roysl figures for the way they look that are still standing.

I have never made fun of anyone for how they look, neither here nor in real life. And two wrongs don't make a right. And any mocking comments such as you describe should also be deleted

Charles was horrifically bullied as a child, his ears were a major part of that, where his bullies used to pull his ears.

however again you’re missing the point. It’s about the fact members do not support mocking someone’s physical features, irrelevant of who they are.
