Moderation Sex Board

I brought up the rugby league thread as a consideration in a discussion about safe guarding and moderation and how those concerns may apply to MN as a whole.

I thought it might be constructive, why I'm being singled out from the probably thousands of MN users that read it is beyond me

I'm not interested in private sex chats. I am interested in many subjects across a variety of boards across MN.

As a life time supporter of rugby union I'll take any opportunity to take the mick out of rugby league.

Mumsnet was fine for years without a sex topic. MNHQ said it wasn’t something they felt was right for mumsnet in threads right up until 2014/15 when they decided to have one.

Before this they said they didn’t want a ‘shed load of pervs’ on the site and that it would be a ‘troll magnet’.

@Surplus2requirements I see on the rugby rimming thread you made a couple of jokes. Shit ones but still jokes, despite being surprised that the thread was on the board it was as it was more descriptive than anything on the sex board.

It seems to me that you thought it was fine to be there, I’m using the joking and not reporting as evidence of that. You even discussed that kids were able to view the video on their phones and the distress to the rugby mans own children. But still you thought it ok to joke around and not report. Wow.

I've thought ever since the start of this that returning to the 90 days to post on the Sex Board would be a simple and effective way of keeping out the wronguns.

The thread had not refreshed on my app before I made my last post so apologies for the repetition.

We can continue to do this without a sex board, as we did before the sex board existed, by asking on another topic where the discussion will hopefully stay below the radar.

I thought the Sex topic was set up to keep sex threads off the other boards and Active Conversations etc and enable them to add restrictions like membership duration. I'm sure it was set up after requests for a sex topic.

I didn't realise its viewable without logging in. That should be easy to change I'd have thought?

It's an idea @WavingAtTheClouds but allowing men to pay for access to women seems wrong. There's a word for that, isn't there?

In light of the current situation around the erosion of women's rights, along with the sex positivity movement, the sex topic feels like another trespass into women's spaces.

It's ironic that this bastion of gender-critical feminism is also a place that allows titillating material that appeals to male readers to stand.

Bookmaker websites seem to be able to verify someone is 18, I don't think the same system of giving name and address and dob providing ID would go down well with most forum users site wide as they lose the anonymity, I personally wouldn't be comfortable with sharing that stuff with mumsnet due to the data leaks we've had in the past and also wasn't there a dodgy mod causing hassle for fwr users? So I can't see that being workable on here, I wouldn't want to be giving so much of my personal info to use MN.

Id want the website I chose to discuss my personal sexual experiences and give sexual advice to others to be active in removing children and at least making a token effort to at least look like they're following what they say they will and suspend accounts of underage users.

I don't think this would be popular either but maybe making the sex board part of premium member privileges could possibly help prevent children accessing that type of content on here. Make it so you have to be logged in to view.

The type of person who isn't using the sex topic in good faith, or creeps and trolls would be less willing to do so if they had to subscribe to mumsnet and the fewer of the boundary ignoring or trolling people the better.

I don't think that will happen though, and as they not suspending underage posters like they said they are in the previous moderation update, it comes with the risk of children seeing sexual content on a website that parents may well not even think to block on parental control type software.

I'm gonna tag @JoMumsnet as they've posted on here but I don't know if they'd seen my post about the safeguarding not being followed, I have asked via email for clarification too but maybe it's quicker asking here too if you're already discussing this this weekend.

Right now I'm in my camper with a somewhat sketchy connection.

At the time i deferred to the many many woman that must have read the post before me to report or not as it was several days old and many posts after.

I only brought it up because of the conversation about the possibility of minors reading and it's an issue that potentially doesn't just relate to the sex board
