No sex board on active. Please comment if you agree.

I really wish the sex board wasn’t on active. It changes the whole tone of the Mumsnet board when you click on Active. And not in a good way.

@LizziesTwin if you're on the website/using the desktop site, install adblocker. It's free and you won't see any of those ads any more.

I used to feel guilty about depriving MN of ad revenue, but no more.

I also agree with @JazzyGeoff's post:

I actually think a sex topic, on a chat board primarily aimed at women and used by women is a great idea for a useful resource for questions about all things sex; before kids, after kids, peri and post menopausal etc as well as just wanting other women's frank and open opinions on general filth.

I've looked at the current Sex board- it's not that. It seems to be a hang out for men, mainly.

Who, at MNHQ thought this was a good idea? How many of those behind this development have given birth? How many of them are men? How many of them genuinely understand what women want in those days/weeks/months after having a baby, and where sex fits in?

I'm also getting increasingly annoyed about the anodyne responses that we're getting. I suspect that you're having to toe the party line @LilyMumsnet - so please note this isn't directed at you personally.

But ignoring all the posts and threads that have been made about this is insulting to your users - who are your content providers after all.

I hid it along with everything else I’m not interested in, but weirdly the sex topic is the only one that won’t stay hidden. I don’t want to see it in Active, or anywhere else, and I don’t want adverts for toys either. Keep them in the sex topic and keep the sex topic off Active.

It would be really nice to have one part of the internet that isn’t overrun with men perving and patronising, so if there was an account age limit please reinstate that, and discourage them from posting. I thought this would be a safe space for women, boy was I ever wrong.

I do use that board when I need to but I will go and find it. I don't like scrolling active and seeing words like squirting and anal help.

Agree. Don’t want to have to hide it, I think (for many reasons, all of which MNHQ are aware of as they’ve been articulated well by others) that Sex should be one of the boards that doesn’t appear in Active. There are other boards this applies to - the issue is they’re not being monetised so it doesn’t cost MN to keep them off Active.

I don't mind the sex board in general, I like to have a look over there sometimes. But I don't want to see BLOW JOBS! and ANAL? while enjoying my morning cup of tea.
