Why are you allowing people to troll the Sex Board?

I do occasionally read and post on the sex topic and there are sometimes some good and useful discussions there.
However I agree with PP that
(1) it shouldn't be on the active board,
(2) that MN promo threads related to sex shouldn't be on the active board,
(3) that there should be a 30+ day posting history to post on the board, and
(4) that trolling and piss-taking should be deleted.

I suppose if you don't like the recipes, you could always scroll past.

@TheShellBeach keep an open mind while you’re there, you might pick up some useful information!

Unfortunately I think if you got rid of the sex topic the same threads would just turn up in Relationships or Women’s Health, 2 really useful MN for women (I remember the pushback on getting a Women’s health section set up due to worries about possible trolls, it’s actually been really helpful for women who’s sexual health issues don’t fall under menopause or birth control, Relationships has been a lifesaver to so many posters). Can’t it just be hidden from most active?

I might sidle over to the sex board and see if anyone wants my fish pie recipe.

Anyway it's not 'trolling', as per the MNHQ definition; it's a harmless peaceful recipe protest.

Whilst I don’t agree that the subject or topic is disgusting, I do agree with the rest.

And OTBT and other topics are hidden, so their justification is bollocks.

Maybe the juxtaposition in active convos next to questions about infant care or schooling is part of the appeal for some people.

Do you realise how hysterical you sound? Take a deep breath. No, the posters on the Sex Board have been posting questions about sex to like minded, inquisitive folk for our own development. Men and women, sharing ideas. I’m a Mum, but I’m not a 2D character. I am also a grown up with an active love life. I don’t want to have missionary position PIV every night so I look there for help. The male posters are all respectful, helpful, humorous without exception. Maybe hold a mirror up to the disgusting comments on this thread and have a good long think if they are likewise.

No the issue is that people don't want it shoved under their noses without consent.

Remove it from active and it can continue to be pervert's corner quite happily.

I would say that they are making an obvious protest to MNHQ there.

It’s not like they started with that kind of tactic. There have been several threads in site stuff and I’m sure lots of reporting to complain going on.

This sort of thing tends to be an indication that an organisation is not listening to its users.

The app has been and is heavily promoted by MNHQ.

Posters are still trying to find out how to hide the Sex Topic on the app, as far as I'm aware. MNHQ silent.

Sorry, to clarify: I meant that the App apparently having no way to hide the board is daft, NOT the posters saying that.
(I use MN via desktop, so had no idea that was the case).

I think one reason they are doing this is because MNHQ are not listening to the many posters asking for it to be removed from active.

Yet mumsnet are asking opinions on the last hour, unanswered questions links, maybe if they had asked about the sex topic they would have avoided this.

But would that suit their purpose 🤔

Yeah that's fucking grim. There are some juxtapositions now that I reckon some of the big advertisers (the ones not flogging shrek's ears) might not be too thrilled about.

Plus a lot of the sex promos should say 'ad' on them and don't, so that's misleading.

Maybe MN could listen to user feedback that many people do not want to have to figure out how to hide a sex topic.

And user feedback about the effects that higher profile content of this type has on the rest of MN.

Personally, I have some questions about why anyone would choose Mumsnet as the place to go for that kind of board, and pick a username including the word ‘horny’. I mean… that’ll simply be met with nonsense about prudishness or shaming or whatever. But the internet is awash with porn and associated stuff, so it’s interesting that people would seek to make sure it’s front and centre on MN. I don’t actually care about the ‘but women like sex too’ arguments. I would hypothesise that most MN users are put off by sex topic stuff.

It was fine where it was with 90 days wait to join and you could discuss anything you wished

But mumsnet want to make money so reduce it to 7 days and put in active to promote their products

And then give some pathetic excuse of not wanting to exclude threads which is bollocks

And doing it at half term too, @MNHQ at its worst

I don’t use the app at all but if I felt annoyed enough to post silly messages tbh I’d log in elsewhere and hide it instead
