Ive just been reading the reviews, I can only presume MNHQ got a batch sent to them.

Fortunately, I've not seen the ads but am laughing at this now having seen the screenshot.

I'm not keen on the people snagging on the front page. Not because I'm a prude but because like others I use MN in public.

And who chose Shrek green?

Am I the only one who looked at it and though, ‘that looks like it will be disappointingly underpowered.’

I have been avoiding clicking on these threads because I don't want all my devices spamming with ads for "bedroom toys" and also because I get sick of all these promoted by MN threads cluttering up the feed but agree with others that I am not a vulva owner, I'm a woman.

I would also like to be able to hide irrelevant Promoted by MN threads, if I'm not interested on the first day they appear I still won't be interested 4 weeks later when they are still there, there seem to be more and more of them and I resolutely avoid clicking on any of them on principle now, even if I am interested in the subject matter.

Maybe vulva clutchers would be better?

The constant sex toy ads and promoted posts are ridiculous. I often scroll Mumsnet on long train commutes but I don’t now as I’m worried people think I’m scrolling a sex toy site in public.

Very, very annoyed at the “people with wombs” bit too. Not only is it nonsense in the sense that a vibrator has nothing to do with a womb, it’s exclusionary. I would bet my house that there are more women on here who have had their wombs removed than there are “transmen”.

If Justine is happy to make her money off of women, she should be happy to use the word.

I'm a mum. My son is 21, he's not sitting on my lap. Thank goodness he's quite tall and would squash me.

I'm also a woman who has a womb. I know other women that don't have wombs. Some were born without them and some of them had them removed.

The copywriting is awful but the image is fairly inoffensive. It’s quite subtle and doesn’t shriek ‘sex toy’. It’s more Shrek’s ear wax candle.

Also offensive to say that sex in motherhood is a deeply held taboo.

theyre challenging that taboo by making the quietest vibrator they can - kind of a mixed message there. Enjoy yourself vulva havers, but shuffle off and do it quietly

Im really disappointed in the use of ‘vulva owners’. Mumsnet is one of the few places in the internet that you can argue against use of dehumanising words like ‘people with wombs’ and ‘people who menstruate’ without being called a terf whore 🫤, so to see it being used in nauseatingly ‘cool’ marketing copy for a product you’ve helped design @LilyMumsnet is actually really upsetting.

Im actually wondering if it’s been done on purpose to cause debate and give the product a higher profile, as I’m finding it really hard to believe that you thought this would go down well with your core demographic.

It’s almost like you’re not reading the room. You need to know your audience, otherwise you’ll lose them.
