Can we have a specific stillbirth and neonatal death board
All the miscarriage posts seem to be early loss and bereavement feels to be adult bereavement.

What about the babies who never had a chance to just be?

Hello, all.

We just wanted to post a link to the new board for those who haven't found their way to it yet:

www.mumsnet.com/talk/stillbirth-and-neonatal-death

We hope there can be some comfort and community found there for those who are going through this.

BeauxHeaux · 04/09/2022 05:50

In support of this.

Astounding · 04/09/2022 05:07

Until it happens to you I don’t think there’s much awareness of how many very late miscarriages and stillbirths there are. With the staffing levels and general crisis In the NHS I dont expect the figures to go down either which is so heartbreaking to think about. Every wait to be seen, every wait for a test result, every delay can be a matter of life or death. I’d support this 100%. There are many topics that could be removed to make way for this. Some have virtually no traffic. Sadly, this topic is so needed.

Here it is Daisy.

I'm so sorry, and hope that you find the boards useful.

@TeenDivided thank you so much I will go and look for it thank you so much

TeenDivided · 16/08/2022 21:05

@Daisy155 sorry for your loss. This thread went quiet because a new board was created, you can find it under Bereavement. Flowers

Daisy155 · 16/08/2022 21:00

Hi why did this thread go quiet I really think it’s very unique I lost my full term baby on the 21st of July please can we continue any updates how is everyone feeling?

Monty27 · 14/08/2022 04:01

Parents have lost children in so many different ways. I lost my first beautiful wanted daughter to cot death. There's so many circumstances and variables where a child is lost. Maybe some topic like 'child loss?

This would be perfect as I just lost my son at 26 weeks which is neonatal I would support this topic too! As regarding miscarriage, still birth and adult loss. I had my son premature and he was with us for 7 days before passing but I barely find any comparisons

We are so, so very sorry. Flowers

Lots of posters will be waiting with open arms on the new board.

All our love and best wishes,
MNHQ

I support this. 🌸to those who need it.

Babyboomtastic · 28/05/2022 09:07

I think it's a good idea, but there could be some issues with blurred edges.

I think it should include late miscarriages - delivering a 22wo is likely to be as traumatic as a 25wo.

But then if you include issue miscarriages, then people will define 'late' however they want, and you'll still end up with a lot of the early miscarriage posts.

And there's genuinely a gray area, say late teens gestation - whereas its a totally different thing from an early miscarriage, but perhaps wouldn't belong in a stillbirth board either.

I hope if it were expanded to cover late miscarriages, then people would sensibly police themselves.

HijHij · 27/05/2022 23:34

Thank you so much. I hope it doesn't need to be used, but that it will become a safe sanctuary for those grieving.

Thank you Mumsnet 💕

YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet · 27/05/2022 12:56

@HijHij we've created a new board here, under the Body & Soul topic. We hope it becomes a supportive place for anyone grieving. Thanks so much for the suggestion. Flowers

Support this

HijHij · 21/04/2022 22:58

Thank you for your support everyone.

It is bitter sweet. In an ideal world this thread and request wouldn't have been needed or wanted.

My heart breaks for everyone on you who have suffered that truly indescribable pain and anguish.

Thank you, form the bottom of my broken heart x

This is very much needed.

Shefliesonherownwings · 21/04/2022 09:55

I support this. I lost my daughter in November 2019, she was sadly stillborn. I posted on the bereavement page and got lots of support but I echo the view that a specific stillborn/neo natal death page would have helped even more. It's such a horrific thing to experience so having a tailored page where everyone who has been through the same thing and can understand the grief would be so helpful.

ElegantlyTouched · 21/04/2022 09:06

I support this x

DressingGownofDoom · 21/04/2022 09:03

I think this is a great idea. Most people using the miscarriage forum are people like me that have had miscarriages in the first trimester, got support from the board and haven't needed to return to the miscarriage board after the initial healing process. With a stillbirth the parents will have to go through birth, registering the death, planning a funeral, and will carry the loss of their child with them throughout their lives and will need long term support. I haven't had a stillbirth, I have had 4 miscarriages, and I'm not trying to insinuate that it's easy to go through a miscarriage or anything, they're just different situations with different support needs.

doggiescats · 21/04/2022 08:30

Oh bless you …I 100% support the need for a separate board .
sending you love OP 💐Xx

Me too

Palavah · 19/04/2022 12:35

Here to add that I was surprised there wasn't one already. Surely Tattoos doesn't have to be handled on a site for and by parents (sorry to pick on tattoos). There must be plenty of boards that are hardly used now.
