How about a dedicated Friendship thread?

The term "relationship" can cover a broad range from familial relations to friends ... but I think most people would automatically associate the term with partners.

I have looked at the list of talk topics and though there is a relationship board, I wish to propose a friendship board is added in its own right.

I think there is a lot of learning and understanding to do regarding friendships (as the impact of losing a friend can be as painful as losing a long-term partner) but as a society, the subject tends to get short thrift - as relationships are prioritised as the be-all and end-all instead.

Also we could discuss the psychology of friendships. I don't know about you but I'm fascinated to what makes friendships happen and why some friendships never get off the ground (despite the efforts and endeavours of one person).

I do wonder how your friendship profile from school compares to your friendships as a grown-up. So if you are popular now and a person that people naturally gravitate towards, where you like this at school? Sadly I think my own school experiences are reflected in my current friendships but I'm fascinated by those people who appear effortlessly to make friends and always have company on hand.

I suspect that some of you will say I'm over-thinking it (and I bet you are the ones who have lots of friends and never have to get the subject any thought). But for some of us, friends don't come easy and I don't always know why (for the record I think I am broadly a decent and interesting human being!) But I am aware of my short-comings and not too proud to admit it.

I think that sounds a great idea.

I totally agree! I often research threads about friends rather than partners/spouses and not always obvious difference between the two in “relationships”
