ADHD/ASD board

Lots of threads about the above in adults recently.

As it’s underdiagnosed in women, and women with these conditions are largely ignored, can we have a board to talk to each other on please?

SEN means special educational needs. Most adults are not in education but obviously ADHD and ASD will impact their lives. SEN is not really an appropriate name for the board they post on.

Yes please. Personally I'd prefer to keep ADHD and ASD together. There are lots of similarities. Maybe a general neurodiversity section.

Great idea.
A new board or rename the SN one as I don't think that name is suitable. I don't have "special needs".

A brilliant idea. Most research is based on men and boys plus there are additional issues around hormonal changes.. so the more mutual support we can find the better.

Yes please. I would like somewhere to chat to others in my position. I'm also relatively high achieving but not as high as I could be if I didn't have ADHD. It would be good to have somewhere to share tips for managing it.

ASC might be better than ASD, also.

I don't like the SN label for adhd nor ASC - I've not known them to be classed as such.

But yep a board would be lovely.
I am both so don't personally mind a mixed board.
If it were neurodivergence related, it could be for women with eg dysphraxia as well.

It may already be there in some form but whilst I have ADHD but I definitely really really don’t like the term “MN with SN”. I am a high achieving professional who happens to be neurodiverse.

People don't know it exists, then if they find it, say it's too quiet, then post in AIBU.

Couldn't there be a message from MNHQ on new adult ASD/ADHD threads in AIBU to say there's an existing thread, or ask the OP if they'd like to move there?

Yes please - agree with a “neurodiversity” board. Mother of a teen girl who I am near certain has adhd…although can’t get a referral or any interest from anyone in looking at this as the signs are subtle and she doesn’t act out.

Agree it could do with a better name and I don't know that it needs to be hidden. Although possibly. Not really sure on that one.

Maybe it should be renamed to neurodiversity or something like that.
