I don’t think that thread was even about designer clothing! It was about fashion, which comes at different price points and you can get something very on-trend in Primark. Unless the trend in question is sustainable fashion, in which case maybe not. The OP wasn’t saying she wanted to discuss expensive and exclusive clothing at all, just that she wanted a place to discuss what was fashionable and what wasn’t.

Where does this end? A separate AIBU for posters who don't like arguments?

No to separate sections. The variety is in the different threads. It's perfectly possible to start a thread within current S&B that is focused on more exclusive fashion.

I buy second hand designer e.g. Margaret Howell for £30-£50.
Where would I go to post about that?

I wouldn't really like to see a split. I'm not in the high end bracket but I enjoy the diversity of posts as long as people don't get nasty.
I think as suggested upthread a separate surgery/fillers thing might be good? That's largely down to my own dislike of posters recommending Botox Willy nilly as if it's as harmless as a lippy, especially when someone has already stated they don't want that type of beauty product.

I like the mix as it always have been. More expensive and designer items can be an inspiration. Like many others my wardrobe is a mix of high street, vintage and the odd designer splurge ( often preloved). I would hate threads that police the recommendations. Most people that ask for recommendations specify a budget, so that usually sets the tone.

Terrible idea, if people are unhappy they're not seeing the threads they'd like to see more of then they just need to start those. More division is the last thing we need, catering to everyone's specific niches endlessly will just end up with lots of inactive boards, it would probably see me going elsewhere, the S&B has already been a lot less active than it used to be, it would just further accelerate the decline.

The only thing I think is worth considering creating a separate board for from S&B is injectables and plastic surgery as it's quite specific especially when it gets into health issues, etc. It probably would have to be a bit like some other special boards that only posters with a proven track record can post as it's likely to attract a lot of spam.

I'm a long time lurker on S&B and I've honestly never noticed this! And that's not because I fall into the well-off designer group, because I definitely don't. Perhaps I've missed a controversial thread but in the main it strikes me as a very welcoming board.

I like that the S&B board is varied, with posters who have diverse views on fashion.

BUT, there was a thread recently on the S&B board where a number of hard core fashion enthusiasts expressed their dissapointment that brands and topics they didn't consider stylish enough, were taking over the board.

There were many posters who disagreed that it was a problem, but also a number who agreed with the op.

I personally felt the thread was a borderline TAAT, as it mentioned in a disparaging way, another thread which is running on the S&B board.

If a separate board for more luxurious fashion was set up and would prevent people from lurking around the S&B board and passing judgement on other posters, then I would definitely be or it.

However, I would like to think there is room for everyone. But maybe not, based on that thread which a few people found a bit off-putting. One poster said the thread made her feel unwelcome on the S&B board and that is a real shame.

So, in brief, I would support this, if it prevented this sort of division which is unpleasant.

Possibly a clothes, make up and skin care board with a separate fashion board would work.

Well it's up to MNHQ I guess but, as they say they're going to keep an eye on this thread, I would like to register my strong disagreement with splitting up S&B.
I don't normally have a high end budget but I still like to look at a full range of stuff.
I think the current focus on comfort is very much a sign of the times.
