Why is it suddenly ok to make multiple threads on the same subject over and over again?

AIBU is a large board and it has not been 'spammed' - it has been contributed to by MN regulars who post in multiple sections of MN. OTOH FWR has been spammed by outsiders who have been quite open on Twitter that they are being goady.

Spartacus, that is a very good point. The OP came into the site (I believe first time ever) in order to stir up trouble and post on it on Twitter.

Then you have the regular posters who provide content every day all over the site often with special (and changing) names for the FWR board to avoid being targeted for eloquence. These are also the people who actually buys the products advertised as they both are likely to use them and in addition likely to be subconsciously influenced by the advertising as they are exposed daily.

I hope this will be discussed in the MNHQ meeting. My point is that the right people need to make a calculated, strategic decision on this. It will not be instantly.

I find this thread quite hilarious and ironic considering the active campaign of the FWR regulars to spam the AIBU board and the rest of the site with repetitive dubiously anti-trans threads for the past few weeks. Don’t like the taste of your bitter own medicine eh?

Mmmmm people coming in to post on MN who fundamentally don't give a wotsit about the site, who have never been there to hold a hand, offer advice, share a tip and so-on and who fundamentally don't care about the site, what it offers or what it means - but they are happy to try and disrupt it. On the other hand, you have posters, mainly women, I suspect most who are mothers, who contribute more widely to the site, probably actually use those who advertise/sponsor it and so-on. I think there is a lesson here ...

Can we all please have a cup of tea and wait for MNHQ to discuss this? I am sorry, but I think we need to calm down a bit whilst they are considering what to do.

There is a massive difference between what a legal entity can do and what a single person can do in terms of “getting a gut feel” of someone and acting on that.

As for future strategies, this will have to be a measured decision by MNHQ, I don’t think it can be thought out in an hour.

As for the strikes/bans MNHQ will hopefully silently amend these, again this will be a decision a volunteer won’t be able to make.

Yes, deletions have been made for talking about recipes or breakfast cereals - but the chemistry 'c' word is allowed to stand even though so many women find it horribly offensive.

Some of the other deletions were for misgendering the OP who didn't even announce pronouns until page 9 or 10.
These deletions shouldn't stand as strikes, that would be disgraceful.

To be fair, I think MNHQ did their very best on this. They are walking a very fine line and they are keeping the discussion open.

It is hard to straight out judge someone and declare them a troll - and a lying troll at that as the OP of the threads swore that all was done in good faith. I am not sure that it is a decision a legal entity can make. Unfortunately the cynics were right.

But please MNHQ could the regulars who were clearly goaded and provoked quietly be re-instated / having their strikes removed. I believe that this was an exceptional situation and the frustration boiled over for some women here.

We are all at a breaking point due to the pandemic and the women on the FWR board are more likely to be dealing with both ageing parents and small children than any Internet warrior. To then have something you care about so deeply as women’s right and feel that you tying yourself in linguistic knots against an insincere poster who not only is lying about their intentions but also takes pleasure in using words like “cis” when knowing how offensive some find that...is hard.

Please MNHQ could we all learn from this, share some and and move on together?

The feminism Boards don't bother me really. It's the fucking coronavirus board that I cannot block through my phone that really pisses me off. It's so depressing , constant whinging there etc 🙄

I have never posted on FWR but have found the discussions really interesting and enlightening. I would like to add my support to the concerns outlined above.

I'd be so interested in the MNHQ response too. I'm another one who is toying with the idea of joining Premium to support MN in the way they have allowed free speech/open debate on certain issues but the way this has been handled and the Twitter stuff (from the little I've gleaned) gives me pause for thought.

Come on MN, this feels so unfair. Once again you are throwing regulars under the bus.
