Why would someone troll about this? I find it staggering that a person would go to so much trouble to make it all up. For what gain 🤷‍♀️

Even if it hadn’t been suspect from the start, the minute they said there were reasons why it wasn’t reported much in the press was a dead giveaway. A British family being shot dead, in a European city, in a case of mistaken identity, drive by, gang related murder would have been all over our press.
Anything that starts out overly dramatic, I tend to give a steer, simply because I don’t believe the vast majority of people’s first thoughts are, I know I’ll post this on Mumsnet, hence a high number are likely to be trolling.

It was all v dramatically written. The tone was 'off' and 'she' was clearly lapping up the attention. Trolls are rife on here

I think that was o my reported widely in the U.K. because it involved British Citezens

But they were Brits according to the troll weren't they? Just on holiday 'somewhere' in Europe.

I really don't know what I was thinking, maybe that she needed space to open up a bit after she's bottled it up. Particularly baby loss is something MN is actually very helpful with, it's usually a safe space (from experience).

I'm pretty sure that if a British man and two teenagers had been shot on holiday because they were mistaken for being part of a gang then it would have been big news here...

It wouldn't have been though, the OP had said it was not U.K.

Depressinly Pansy, a huge number of trolls include still birth or the death of a young child. It's disgusting and I don't know what causes behaviour like this.

Regretably to the point that it's actually an indicator of a troll thread quite often.

To be honest it seemed rather far fetched to me and I struggled to believe it wouldn’t have been all over the press. I would never have commented to say so though just in case it was real and would feel awful wrongly accusing someone of trolling about something like that. I assumed as so many people were taking it at face value that I was just being overly cynical ...

And no, whilst the shooting story may have been out there and extremely unusual, I'd have never expected anyone to lie about their dead baby. If she's done that, that's unforgivable. I am actually truly disgusted as a mother to three angel babies, disgusted.

No. She also said she lost her daughter at 26 weeks as a result, FFS, did you even resd it. She was called Rosie.
Ok ok!!! I had forgotten that piece of the story in my amazement it was all made up.
