Hi folks,

Yule never guess what... it's 48 days until Christmas!

We know what you're thinking... it's a bit early for turkey and Santa talk. Tbf, you're right, but we need your help!

At MNHQ, we are dying to know what Christmas films roast your chestnuts.

All you need to do is post your favourite family Christmas film on this thread. We'll track the answers and reveal the results with a Mnetters top ten video!

But wait—there’s myrrh. Did we mention that every user who contributes will be automatically entered into a prize draw to win some Mumsnet goodies? No? Well, everyone that contributes will be entered - and we'll be picking one lucky winner. So what are you waiting for?

Grin

Elf. Every single time.
The bit at the end with the sleigh is magical!

I'm so excited for Christmas, big kid! Grin

Pinkarsedfly · 07/11/2019 18:34

Alistair Sim’s Scrooge. Magical.

Grandmatrish1 · 07/11/2019 18:19

Muppets Christmas Carol.

HidingFromDD · 07/11/2019 18:17

And I've just checked, you can buy it on Amazon for a mere £48!!!!!

HidingFromDD · 07/11/2019 18:14

The Greatest Store (AKA 'the girl who cut Santa's rope' by my 2, who are now in their 20s)

TheCanterburyWhales · 07/11/2019 18:13

Dd and I have our line up ready for our upcoming Saturday night binges.

Home Alone 1 and 2 take top spot and the first Nativity (not literally the baby Jesus one, the Mr Poppy and Martin Hobbity thingy one)

RoseToes · 07/11/2019 18:13

Definitely Polar Express

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 07/11/2019 18:12

Bernard and the Genie. Or Home Alone 2.

Slaymill · 07/11/2019 18:11

The Bishop’s Wife staring Cary Grant a great black and white movie and The Family Man with Nicolas Cage

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 07/11/2019 18:10

Gremlins - a Christmas Eve must watch in this house. It's got presents, snow, love, family, and creepy little Christmas fuckers with teeth. What's not to like?

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 07/11/2019 18:09

Elf - but noone will watch it will me so it’s the one with David Niven (I forget the name but it’s good too).

Rockbird · 07/11/2019 18:06

Albert Finney's Scrooge. Nothing else comes close.

nitgel · 07/11/2019 18:00

BlackKittyKat · 07/11/2019 17:55

mnahmnah · 07/11/2019 17:45

Home Alone, for us and the kids!

ChristmasPuddingAllRound · 07/11/2019 17:18

Arthur Christmas for a film but also live The Snowman and the Snow Dog [santa]

izzyb6488 · 07/11/2019 17:10

Best film for us is “the holiday”

KingBobra · 07/11/2019 16:35

Muppets Christmas Carol!

EsmeeMerlin · 07/11/2019 16:34

Elf is our favourite film. I love it.

We also really enjoyed the Christmas chronicles too last year.

IWouldBeSuperb · 07/11/2019 16:29

Muppets Christmas Carol is our all time fave -

But agree with pp that Christmas Chronicles has the making of a classic! And I'm not usually a fan of 'new' festive films!

HappyDinosaur · 07/11/2019 16:29

Miracle on 34th Street, but not the b&w one, the newer one.

BIWI · 07/11/2019 16:28

... also partial to Raymond Briggs' Father Christmas here

ItsJustTheOneSwanActually · 07/11/2019 16:28
