Please don't get rid of the Teenagers board

Just that really.

You'll see that a number of us are responding to the MNHQ post on the board itself, but just in case you're not checking replies there, a number of us really, really want to keep teenagers stuff away from the potty training, and parents of 6yos who think their darlings will never behave like that as teens.

OP posts:

Say no to Texit

Grin

MNHQ needs to get rid of/merge tons of boards but NOT the Teen one.

HomeHell · 15/05/2019 22:53

Please please keep the teen board.
It's been a god send. It helps keep unhelpful comments from parents who are yet to reach the despair/joy of teen parenting off the threads.
Quite often when a thread is posted outside if the teen section you get a parent if a 7yo saying " I wouldn't tolerate such shit blah de blah"!
The teen board must stay. It's a place to turn to when reaching the end if your tether.
It's useful to have all the teen posts in one place to read and refer to, even when not able to face making your own post. I read so many old threads in that section over the past few years, sometimes just to comfort myself with the fact someone else has been through similar when feeling like I'm failing as a parent of teens.

Another 'Please keep the teen board separate' from me! Absolutely brilliant advice and specific.

LoafofSellotape · 15/05/2019 22:49

Noooooooooooooooo!!!! Don't get rid of itShock

ThatsNotAKnifeThatsASpoon · 15/05/2019 22:48

Agree, please re-consider

DogHairEverywhere · 15/05/2019 22:48

I've got one teen and another nearly there and I've started to browse the teens board. Please don't let them all get muddled up under a 'parenting' banner.

Aspieteach · 15/05/2019 22:45

I agree with everyone else. I'm a mum of a teen and although it's a board that I rarely post on, I do lurk there find it a really useful board.

CherryValance · 15/05/2019 22:43

I agree with everyone else - keep it separate please!

bestbefore · 15/05/2019 22:37

They won't see this til the morning; give them a chance! Am sure they will change their mind...

Geegle · 15/05/2019 22:36

I am more of a lurker than a poster but please leave the teenagers separate! Who wants to navigate baby issues when they have a teenager or 3? Who wants to hear what monsters their precious newborns will become?
Silly idea

pisspants · 15/05/2019 22:35

I have a just turned teen and so have started dipping my toe into the teenagers board and agree with everyone else who thinks it should stay. Seeing as it's a parenting forum and kids are teenagers for 1/3 of their childhood plus the totally random boards there are on here,I think it's a very odd decision to get rid of it.

RandomlyChosenName · 15/05/2019 22:35

Not quite reached teenage years yet, but I would like to be able to read and post on a separate board when I do. The issues with teens need a specific section.

DramaAlpaca · 15/05/2019 22:34

Gretchen's idea is a really good one.

MintyCedric · 15/05/2019 22:33

Another Keep the Teens vote!

Theimpossiblegirl · 15/05/2019 22:33

Please keep teens separate, MNHQ.
Everyone will pile in and threads will get derailed. It is completely different to parenting other age groups.

MrsBlondie · 15/05/2019 22:32

Agreed. Please leave

colouringinpro · 15/05/2019 22:32

I agree

OvertheInfluence · 15/05/2019 22:32

Ahh no. Now come on...
I as a mother of teenagers do not want to circumnavigate the world of naps, purees, finger foods and nappies and I'm sure those with babies don't need my patronising "it's just a phase" commentaries.
I honestly didn't get why parents were so despairing of teenage behaviour when mine were 18 months old. I really believed [hollow laugh] that good parenting would raise polite children.
I know better now but I cant be arsed explaining why a teenager grunting at you could be considered progress and so their really needs to be a separate area for us jaded mothers.

woodcutbirds · 15/05/2019 22:32

I agree. Keep the teenage boards. There are loads of weird semi-defunct boards that can be culled but this is a parenting site and raising teens takes up a third of our entire parenting time - more if you count 19-year-olds.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 15/05/2019 22:31

@AndNoneForGretchenWieners is right - consolidate some of the topics for babies, toddlers and primary school age children, and leave the teenagers board.

DogsandBoysmeanMud · 15/05/2019 22:29

Totally agree. Nothing worse than parents of younger kids suggesting teens are all so simple if you just take their phones and keep them in the house!!

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 15/05/2019 22:28

I said it on the other post and I'll say it again. There is only one specific board for teens, and lots of niche boards for baby and toddler specific topics. Merge all of the baby ones into a generic baby topic, and toddlers/ primary school kids into age specific boards, but don't merge teens and keep the targeted specific boards. Like other posters, I don't want to read all about potty training when looking for teen questions. Or be patronised by parents of angelic babies who have no concept of dealing with a young adult.

JasperTheFriendlyGhost · 15/05/2019 22:28

Terrible terrible terrible idea

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 15/05/2019 22:27

Mine are all past the teenage years, but I agree with people on here that it makes no sense to lump teenagers in with toddlers, potty training, starting school and SATS.

Xeroxarama · 15/05/2019 22:25

Please don’t! It’s really useful to scroll through the teenage threads and they are totally separate to younger kids. There are so many other tiny boards and sub boards but this one is about actually parenting practice, unlike most others, and is active and really helpful
