Black areas on mobile

Anyone else get this? If I'm browsing the site on my phone if I've come back to my browser from using another app the thread will be all fuzzy and have random black blocks all through it before I refresh.

Simple fix but still annoying. :s

I've been getting this for a while too, but only just seen this thread. I am using Chrome browser on an Android phone.

TheChippendenSpook · 28/01/2019 22:41

It's happening to me too. I'm on Android Chrome too.

HoneysuckIejasmine · 28/01/2019 22:34

Yes same, android running chrome.

UnalliterativeGeorge · 28/01/2019 22:30

Same here and far more today than any other. It's making it unusable.

Android and chrome here too

Raera · 21/01/2019 19:43

Same for me, all other websites fine, black or white blank areas.
I'm on a laptop

AGHHHH · 20/01/2019 02:27

Every other website is fine for me, I'm sure it's not on my end.

I don't have the app I use the browser. Chrome on android.

Yes, still getting large blank areas here too, now white rather than black, as in AGHHHHs example above. Less often than before, but still frequently.

Android and chrome here.

Hi there @AGHHHH

It seems like you're the only user still reporting this issue - although if anyone else is seeing it too, do let us know - so we think there might be a problem on your end. Can we check that you're using the latest version of the app?

LornaMumsnet · 14/01/2019 18:34

Hi all

Just to let you know, we're still investigating and haven't found the cause yet - we're so sorry.

Thanks to those who have tried safe mode - we'll be along with more information as soon as we are able.

AGHHHH · 14/01/2019 18:24

No one? Confused

Again Hmm

Lougle · 26/11/2018 21:17

I've given it 15 minutes in safe mode and nothing, Anya, but that doesn't necessarily mean much, because I can go days with no problems, then have a few problems, then days without, etc.

AnyaMumsnet · 26/11/2018 11:21

Hi there everyone,

We're sorry this is still going on.

Just to reiterate what MichaelMumsnet has said further up, it'd be really helpful if some of you could try the following.

"Thanks for the reports. We're still trying to track down what could be causing the black box infestation.

We've got something to try - which should help to narrow things down:

If you put your phone into safe mode, and the boxes stop appearing - then that will get us a lot nearer to finding out what's causing the problem. Please let us know if the black boxes are still there when you look at the site when the phone is in safe mode.

Here are some instructions for putting a Samsung Galaxy S5 into safe mode

And here are some general Android phone instructions

Hopefully one of you with the issue will try this and let us know - it really will be a big help in diagnosing the problem.

Thanks in advance.
MNHQ"

Is there a way of blocking ads on mumsnet?

Lougle · 26/11/2018 06:57

Sorry for multiple posts! It seems as if it's a glitch in the loading of the animated ads. Like they hang and wipe out the thread, then buffer and it all appears again. It's just like a buffering issue when you are streaming a film on, say, Netflix. Everything hangs, you can't see anything, you can't do anything, the screen jumps.... it's happening now as the Co-op and above my keyboard is rolling. Every time the ad switches scene, my keyboard jumps and I can't type, then it resets, and I can type again. I know it's going to do it now, so I can just pause and wait. But it shouldn't happen!

Lougle · 26/11/2018 06:50

Here's an example. This time it's the bowling ad.

This thread has been going 6 weeks now. At least I'm wasting less time on Mumsnet!

SophieLMumsnet · 24/11/2018 14:57

So sorry about this, everyone - we won't be able to get this sorted today, we're afraid, but we will be looking into it as soon as we can next week.

Thank you for your patience!
