No-NC in MumsNetia

I know we have discussed this before, more than once. Is it possible to have a no-NC topic please?

It could just be added to MN local as "MumsNetia" or "MumsNet Mountain" and people could chose it as their local page, so no tech wizardry needed.

I think it would create a sense of community again. A lot of that came from people "knowing" each other. I understand nc has its place, and I believe it can be done by HQ for good reasons even on local. NC to troll isn't one of them.

How do you see that working? People name change for all sorts of reasons, especially with the tabloid press trawling for “news”.

Is there much call for just general chat on here nowadays? I think people get fed up of clique and royalty accusations and generally aren't that bothered any more. People chat to the friends they make in separate spin-off groups where they get a bit of privacy and don't run the risk of being featured in the Daily Mail and similar rags.

NC is very useful (better than on other sites where you have to dereg and rereg if you're outed) but it is out of control.

It would be nice to have a "masks off" area though.

A bit like Chat I imagine, but you'd "know" people. And I think it would be less rough, because nobody could go back to their nice name afterwards.

What sort of discussions would be there? Like AIBU but with less gf/socking etc?

In all honesty I'd prefer it if it were made impossible to nc within a thread (either accidentally or maliciously) or possibly within a topic? So one could be DHisADick on Relationships and OneOfTHOSEParents on Secondary Education and GoadyTwat on AIBU.

I think it would help against "namechanged to goadyfuck".

NC could be possible on asking HQ, but not for a spontaneous trolling session. And people would have to stand by their more unpalatable opinions and couldn't go back to sweet as pie after a racist outburst.
