Can we start a ‘medics corner’ to the list of topics?

Iloveteaandcake · 02/04/2018 14:46

Thought it would be useful to have this....think there is something similar for teachers on here

Potential topics could be employment issues, people looking for opinions/advice on junior doctor issues, bullying, flexible working, work/life balance as a medic and a parent ....the list is endless!

Found it! And already started whinging Grin

HebeMumsnet · 11/04/2018 15:17

Wow. And as if by magic... the topic appeared.

Is clearly a Three Shredded Wheats day for SandyMumsnet.

Do get over there and have a chat now.

HebeMumsnet · 11/04/2018 12:56

Good news, folks. The big cheeses have said yes to this so look out for a new topic coming soon.

Topics that get dusty or tumbleweedy do get removed, so we'll keep an eye on it and check it's not looking unloved, but sounds like lots of you have lots to say on the subject.

Papplewapplewoo · 08/04/2018 18:50

I would love to join this. I’ve been an NHS admin since my teens, now volunteer as an HCA and would love to train as an RN eventually!! Seems like a fab idea!

StealingYourWiFi · 08/04/2018 18:46

I think it's a great idea too. I tend to use the FB group for my area for this but would be good to have a place here too.

Bagadverts · 08/04/2018 18:46

Not a HCP but would be interested in following the threads (sometimes do from Staff Room if they come up on Active. I don't post.) I suspect that means that others including DM will do the same though, so you'd want to be careful venting (I suppose the same as normal but with more risk of publicity.)

Greymisty · 08/04/2018 18:43

Please include social care too if possible Flowers

PeterPiperPickedSeaShells · 08/04/2018 18:41

I think it's a great idea

BoreOfWhabylon · 08/04/2018 18:41

Sorry @FlissMumsnet but surely you mean the blue light?

ditavonteesed · 08/04/2018 18:40

I'm going to go against the grain and say it's a terrible idea, as a nurse I am very careful about what I put online and discussing work in any way on a public forum is a big no no. I would not use it and I would worry about people getting in trouble.

FlissMumsnet · 08/04/2018 18:37

Thanks so much for all your thoughts on this - we're loving the name ideas too.

Looks like there's a lot of support for this topic so we'll ask the big cheeses if we can get the green light for this one.

MaximilianNero · 08/04/2018 18:35

I'm definitely interested Smile

Four4me · 08/04/2018 18:32

I'd be interested! I'm a physiotherapist working a private hospital after many years of NHS work. 🙋🏼‍♀️

leghoul · 08/04/2018 18:27

Helspopje is right though re GMC anonymity and social media use but I think that's for public commentary or medical advice ? Perhaps

leghoul · 08/04/2018 18:24

Yes
Not sure how to stop it being DM territory though but would be good to have a place - I don't use fb and rarely use dnuk forum

StewPots · 06/04/2018 21:57

I'm a ex-NHS HCA and currently work in residential care as a high level HCA, we have lots of issues too, but we often feel a bit forgotten. Would I qualify to join?

BumpowderSneezeonAndSnot · 06/04/2018 21:50

Can you make it open to social care professionals please? Similar issues and stresses

BoreOfWhabylon · 02/04/2018 23:46

Not The Consulting Room would be a good name

lovelilies · 02/04/2018 22:40

I'm in. HCPs' Mess is a good name too Grin

SweetLike · 02/04/2018 21:42

I am not clinical but would also interested albeit mainly reading I dare say.

user1489792710 · 02/04/2018 21:36

Great idea!!!

cupoflemontea · 02/04/2018 21:34

Well I’m not a GP. I’m a Physio, so I’d like to just post on here where I name change almost daily. I like the forum, and the people on it, so I’d rather just post here.

Iloveteaandcake · 02/04/2018 21:32

Yes there are other forums and I am also part of both dnuk and pmguk on FB. However I rarely follow or post on there to be honest. In fact I don’t use FB much at all. Somehow I find MN more user friendly....and also like the anonymity
I know others may feel differently

I'd be in to an expanded version for HCPs.

Can we start a ‘medics corner’ to the list of topics?
Helspopje · 02/04/2018 21:28

@cupofteaforme how about doctors.net aka dnuk?

Fwiw, gmc have got involved for 'anonymous' posts on public fora. Prob safest in a moderated, credentials cjecked on joining group like mmm
