Advanced Search Question

Hi Tech, asked this question on another thread but it's better off in here.

Posting from a TwatPhone iOS 11.2.5 using Safari.

When I use advanced Search, when I click on the post (or poster) I am looking for, instead of taking me directly to the post within the thread, it drops me at the top of the thread. It never used to.

It's a pain in the arse. Especially if it's a long thread (eg, I was looking for a post I made a long time ago about the flooding in my home town. Adv Search found my post really quickly, as I knew a 'key' word and (obvs) that it was posted in my name. However when I clicked on that actual post it took me to the top of that thread and I had to scroll through, nearly to the bottom, to find the post I was after).

Another poster has the same issue, but someone who posts using their laptop doesn't. Is it just a phone thing?

Silvery I did an AS on myself, picked the same thread you mention above and it took me directly to my post. Sorry it still isn't working for you Sad

Batshittery you got me all excited Grin but nope, not working for me. I tried searching for your name wondering if it would make a difference.

I clicked on your post in : www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/a3666295-DIL-wants-me-to-look-after-DGS-on-my-birthday#89331828 which is a two paqe thread for me. Your post is on the second page and as usual it went to the top of page one and stopped.

Weeps into handkerchief.

@Soniamemsnet I hope you will forgive me for not being thrilled with the new feature for mobile as I don't use a mobile. That and the change to selecting the board(s) are pointless as Advanced Search doesn't work! However, |'m thrilled the 'Tech Team' found something with which to amuse themselves.

I think it's fixed!! I just did a search. Post I wanted to read was on page 2. I clicked the posters name from AS and it took me directly to their post. Woo hoo.

Hi just popping in to say that we've added an extra feature to the mobile advanced search to include being able to search a particular thread.

This should go live by the end of this week. We're still looking into the other reported issue about posts taking users to the top of the page and will keep you updated. Thanks again for your patience. Flowers

Waves to Batshittery and RaymondStopThat I get the Oops page too sometimes.

I notice the 'Tech Team' have found time to change how to select which boards to search. Is this to compensate us for the bloody thing still not working? I don't feel compensated.

The 'fix' has just made things worse for me. I wanted to post on a thread from 2 weeks ago, so searched, expecting to have to click on the OP's message to get to it (what a pain). Even clicking on the first post took me straight to the bloody annoying 'Oops' page, despite the fact that I can see a summary of all the messages on the search results page. So irritating, I just wanted to thank someone for a recommendation.

Yep @SilverySurfer is right, I just just tried searching for my posts and if it's on the first page it works fine, any higher and it just takes you to the beginning of the thread. Confused

It has not been fixed. If you look for a post by a poster on page 2 or higher, it still goes to the top of page 1 and stops. Not sure what your Tech Team are on but it's not increasing their tech knowledge. Hmm

Just found this and it’s been a fun read. SilverySurfer Maybe we need to sing songs of encouragement or something. Crazy that it’s taking so long to do, well, nothing really. I’m not tech savvy but is this a really difficult fix? I wonder how long the cookies issue will go on for given how long this has taken..

And yes, for me as well as the very first issue discussed, still the 'Oops' thing is happening.

@MNHQ no - this has not been fixed. If I search my name and my post is on page 1 of a thread, it will take me to the post. If it's on any of the following pages it goes to the top of page 1 and stops.

The random Oops thing is also still occurring.

Obviously my song wasn't rousing enough for the 'Tech Team' so I'll see what else I can find.

It's really not fixed, if you click on the thread title (eg. "to ask for a caesarean" in the screenshot) it takes you to the top of page one, but clicking on the comment below ("I'm a decade on") brings up the very annoying "oops" page.

Soniamumsnet , nope the original issue is still happening.

I've C and Pd this paragraph from the OP to explain the issue that was described initially to clarify, as other posters including myself had problems with this and also with the 'Oops we can't find that thread' issue.

Weekly bump to @MNHQ and a wave back to you Batshittery and to everyone keeping this thread near the top.

I suppose the 'Tech Team' would need smelling salts if I added a new request. How about an edit button available for, say one minute or even 30 seconds after you have posted? Have a look on the Digital Spy forum if you need an example.
